Stay strong and feel the way you want to. None of us are in your shoes. As a decent human being - irrespective of intent of divorce / separation - you spent a good number of years together. Even if things weren’t amicable - it’s ok to still feel emotions. Be kind to yourself and whatever you need to do for her - then do that. Look into establishing irrevocable trusts for each kid and shovel a ton of cash away for them too. Make it that they can’t touch it except for certain milestones EG: college tuition, life altering illness/disease, whatever. Make the trustee someone that you have 99.5% faith in that administers the trust prior to each child reaching the stipulated age. So my own parents - well it took me 47 years to realize they left good and bad impressions. I have to own that part. MIL - total witch. Spent every dime my FIL earned. Had to have the latest x. To cut to the chase - get a lawyer consult asap. Every state is different. Every situation is different in some way. Protect yourself now and get this ironed out. Weirdly enough, if you delay things, if in fact you’d owe her from the house, the cost will most likely continue to add up on your end due to the broken and tilted racket of it all.
