I noticed another post about this, but was curious about (other than the obviously terrible title) what you thought of the article? As a now-adult, it easily makes sense to me. The thought of someone my age (or even younger than me) trying to fuck a teenager repulses me. I think that high suicide rates among men is very alarming and that action should be taken to lower those rates, but I think that it's wrong to frame it as a har-har-see-no-such-thing-as-privilege-because-guys-kill-themselves thing. For instance, doctors and dentists wield a pretty decent amount of social capital, and I don't think anyone could really argue against that, but they hold some of the highest suicide rates reported.

Sure. Sadly I have three family members who are homeless and jobless. Their homelessness and joblessness would not make them any less responsible for their children's care, if they had kids. Not to mention, there are many two-parent families that are homeless, with children. There are sites such as IndieGoGo where you basically create a page and ask people to give a little bit towards what you need. I am not exactly sure how it works b/c I have never done one before, so privacy may be an issue, but it's something to consider if you would want maybe some family and close friends to help you fund it.

You need a paternity test to determine if the child is yours or not. If yes, then proceedings need to be started right away for either you to relinquish all rights so that the child can be adopted by someone else, or for the two of you to come to custody and child support arrangements. The last thing you want to do is let it all linger in limbo and then when the kid is 3 or 4 you owe areears and all that.

Though I think the author does make some important points, I find it rather distasteful that a woman would judge other women for changing their name upon marrying a man. I struggle with this myself because I do not like the concept of marriage whatsoever, so when my sister (for example) changed her name, I was a little annoyed by it, but also recognized that it is her business and her right, and never would consider mentioning it to her.
