Women with a bachelors degree get divorced at half the rate of women with no degree. Way I see it, if you can rent for the price of your taxes, syndicate fees, any maintenance costs, the 5% the real estate agent will take off the top, and interest on your mortgage, you'd be stupid not to rent. Thing is, you get an asset with that debt. And once you get that debt paid off, your free cash flow is generally improved by quite a bit. That's not what child support is for... now I realize that in reality, a good chunk of exorbitantly large child support payments go elsewhere, but my point is more that $18k is ridiculous.
