Skin cancer runs in my family and I hate the smell of cigarettes, so I think I'm in the clear on all of those points! I've never started a relationship from a cafe or career event before, but I can definitely see that happening 30lbs from now. I'll make sure to keep an eye out. Thank you!
That mini bio is incredible. Thank you so much for a concrete example of what I need to strive for in a profile -- honesty, openness, and vulnerability. And I appreciate the comment about form fitting clothes! People say "let us see what you look like!" But then say "don't show off your body in a bikini!" Form fitting clothes are the perfect middle ground.
I've gotten that a couple times, and I think I'm going to work on putting myself out there more -- not just romantically, but socially as well. Although seemingly less efficient, it appears be a much healthier option.
You are bringing back ALL my repressed Econ 101 memories. And I mean that in a good way. Thank you very much for putting it like this. It's not some mystical, inscrutable quest to find a soulmate that everyone is successful at except for me. It's a marketplace. Become the best product, and market appropriately. That, I completely understand. Thank you!
I used to watch more female-oriented porn, so the appeal for me wasn't the visuals, but the dynamic between the man and the woman. As someone who works all the time and is generally appreciated for her brain and not much else, it was nice to put myself in the shoes of someone who was wanted/desired. I don't know. Seems stupid now.
Based on the advice I've received here, I probably won't be looking into online dating as much, but I'm bookmarking this comment for future reference just in case. Thank you for the detailed advice!
I feel like the names are irrelevant since I stopped watching after that post and haven't really done it since. And I do have other hobbies -- dance, boxing, game design, cooking -- but I work so much that it's hard to find time.
Thank you for your honesty. I've been asking the women in my life and they all tell me I look fine, but I know I'm still fat. I'll aim for 130. Thanks!
Thank you so so much for this insightful advice. I'm more of a Bible christian than a church Christian, but that definitely makes sense as a better place to meet people than a hookup app. And I'll remember that my lack of dating experience will be seen as a red flag. I had never even considered that. Thank you again!
Lol I WATCHED porn. As a relationship replacement while I focused on my career. If I'd been hooking up with pornstars for the past decade I wouldn't be here lol. Probably dead of an overdose or something. Sorry for the misunderstanding. But I appreciate all your other comments. Continue to lose weight (I'm already 20lbs down, I stopped stuffing my face 3 months ago) and focus on older, less attractive men. Got it.
29F here. I appreciate this sub for all it's useful information, and I'm trying my best not to end up on here one day. This is the bad place lol. Here's my question -- what would a good profile look like? Or do they even exist for women above a certain age? I've never dated or hooked up or been in a relationship (wasted my twenties on porn and my career), but I know I'm still past my prime. Other than not being fat, which I'm working on, what is a woman supposed to do online/IRL to be worthy of …
