I had a very therapeutic dream about my ex-wifeI cried while writing my comment about the dream, too. I feel you on that. Sorry about your three years. I hope you can do something to celebrate him today. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/23 07:13 PM
And here we go….My state requires the consent of both parties, so it is the law. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/23 06:57 PM
I had a very therapeutic dream about my ex-wifeIt’s interesting how therapeutic and relieving dreams can be. I think they can give us the meaning we are looking for. It was a different scenario, but I had a dream like that when my dad died of cancer. From what I remember of it, he was sitting on my parents’ living room couch in a hospital gown and still looked healthy. I walked into the living room, he waived me over to him, and he held out his arms for a hug. While hugging him, he said, “Take care of your mother and sister for me.” And then… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/23 06:39 PM
And here we go….I’m not a fan of life right now, either. I hope the civility stays for you guys. My wife and I are also under the same room for the foreseeable future and she initially said she wants this to be amicable (as do I). However, it has seemed that ‘amicable’ is defined as her getting everything she wants. I just got the first draft of our separation agreement today and it’s nowhere near 50/50. So I think tonight is where the amicability ends, unfortunately. I think I’m going to have to start recordin… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/05/23 06:25 PM
Choosing TherapyPsychologist here. All psychologists can be therapists, but not all therapists are psychologists. The licenses/credentials might differ from state to state; however, the majority of therapists are some sort of clinical social worker or mental health counselor. These individuals have master’s degrees while psychologists have doctorates. For the type of support you’re probably looking for, a master’s-level clinician is more than equipped to help. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/05/23 09:56 PM
You don't Divorce the same woman you marriedYes and no. I asked her to let her mother know the dinner was from the both of us. And she did — in a very bitchy text. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/05/23 11:39 PM
You don't Divorce the same woman you marriedI didn’t say anything because I kept expecting/waiting for my wife to say the birthday dinner was from both of us. But when the night ended and there wasn’t so much as a ‘thank you’ or a hug from her mother (who is always courteous), I was dumbfounded that my wife really let her mother walk away thinking she paid the whole bill. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/05/23 06:14 PM
You don't Divorce the same woman you marriedI had an experience with her last night that just left me looking at her and thinking “Who the hell are you??” She started the divorce process two months ago and we’re still in the house together (but now have separate bank accounts, credit cards, etc). I’m close with her family, so I was invited to dinner for her mother’s birthday. She and her mother did the usual back and forth banter about who is paying for dinner early on. When the bill comes, I have our joint credit card (used for house exp… | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/05/23 06:01 PM
Anyone picked up a better credit card prior to the end?Ah maybe they changed it from $300? Or I could have been misremembering. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/05/23 07:22 PM
Anyone picked up a better credit card prior to the end?I got the AmEx Blue Cash Preferred because the annual fee is only $95, but you get a $300 statement credit if you spend $300 in the first six months. It’s 6% back at the grocery store (excludes Walmart and Target), 3% on gas, etc. I’m not really one for traveling and I do almost all my cooking/eating at home, so this card made the most sense. I got a new card right away so that the little credit score hit could recover before I go to buy a new house. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/05/23 06:50 PM
Just started the processI just started the process this week too, man. She told me on Sunday she wants a divorce and yesterday I got an email from her attorney. I got thrown in the deep end real fucking fast. I don’t have any real advice to give you. But from what I’ve gathered from various corners of the internet this week: (1) stay in the house and (2) this is now a business partnership (i.e., just because something feels shitty, doesn’t mean it is on your part). | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/03/23 01:32 AM
