This is terrific. The next time someone starts a post talking about Male privilege, post this. Particularly the slide about education levels.

One of the important things to remember is that people aren't proven innocent, they are shown to be "not guilty". In cases where it's his word versus hers, it's next to impossible to determine what happened.

And the poor Canadians being caught in the middle. Minimum wage for servers slightly below the general minimum, but the American tipping culture still predominating.

I love the word picture of self identifying professors who are feminists. I just see an old, professorially attired person walking around loudly exclaiming, "I am me!". Or possibly a feminist walking around on campus talking about how they see themselves as a professor. I'm not saying that this guys post is invalid because of bad grammar (there are other reasons why it is). I'm simply saying that that line made me laugh.

It's a piece of shit rag, that doesn't bother to get sources. I wouldn't use it as toilet paper for the respect I have for my asshole.

Did she say she was pro-choice? Her comments on sex would make her seem very much anti-abortion. Unless she further clarifies herself on that issue, I can't see a reason to assume she's pro-choice.

I have to think that a lot of this has to do with nationality as well. I think a majority of Canadian economists would say that the US is under regulated in many areas.

Maybe the poster is anti-abortion. If so, I don't really see a problem.

To be fair, maybe that's the man's purse that the woman is stealing. The whole story is about not judging a book by its cover.

I think Men are more concerned about being physically assaulted than sexually assaulted. In my personal experience (anecdotal obviously, but maybe someone knows a study that backs me up/refutes me), Women are much less conscious about situations where physical violence could happen than Men are. I know that I am loathe to go drinking downtown by myself with a group of Women (by that, I mean being the only guy in the group), because they will go into a public area filled with aggressive guys and …

I don't really see the misandry either. It just looks like this person really doesn't like Republicans, doesn't mean they hate men.

Well, he's going through a lot of pain, but it's not necessarily a pain I would want to spare him. I hope he takes this chance to really go through some self exploration. Maybe he didn't rape anyone, but could he have? Is there some potential for rape in him?

To be fair, you don't know what they heard. OP said there was yelling and door slamming. For all we know, the neighbours heard one person yelling (different pitches of voices carry differently), and then a bang and then a thud (it's possible to knock things to the ground by slamming doors). If I heard that, I'd probably think something bad might have happened and go and check it out. However, if I was elderly or small, I might decide the safer thing to do is to call the cops, and let them handle…

I have a couple of issues with this article. First of all, being an MRA doesn't make me right wing. I'm very left wing, a socialist really, but I still think that there are a lot of instances where men get shafted by society. Secondly, this article is rude and dismissive toward female athletes. I'm not even sure what the point they are trying to get across is, all I really got from reading it is that the best female athletes try to be like men. This seems to me, to be the type of article that so…

Are you familiar with the history of Israel, or of Judaism? The state of Israel didn't exist until 1948, and Judaism has existed for over 3000 years. Telling Jews that they should have stayed in Israel doesn't really make any sense.

I really don't think this is a men's rights issue. I think this whole 'Obamacare' thing is a U.S. conservative versus 'liberal' debate. The majority of the first world already has at least some form of universal health care, and you'd be hard pressed to find someone who argues that it disadvantages men.

A part of that could be because its not nice to call someone an asshole when they're asking for help. Might as well put the most positive on a situation as you can.

This is clearly satirical. Consider this passage from his last point: Go look at a city skyline. All those skyscrapers? We built those to impress you, too. All those sports you see on TV? All of those guys learned to play purely because in school, playing sports gets you laid. All the music you hear on the radio? All of those guys learned to sing and play guitar because as a teenager, they figured out that absolutely nothing gets women out of their pants faster. It's the same reason all of the a…

There is a joke in there about people who can be experts at something in their professional lives, but fail horribly at it at home. They could have thrown in a professional maid who has a dirty home for instance. However as presented, this is just the same old and tired 'men are incompetent in domestic situations' joke.
/r/MensRights08/03/12 07:04 PM

Isn't that built in? How could you have more than 60% of one gender if you're required at least 40% of the other?

The future has always been shaped by angry young men. They tend to be the ones willing to fight and die for a cause, and they are far more impulsive than older or calmer men.

Legally, a rape victim still has a voice, and while it will almost certainly be hard for them to use it, what is the cost of them not speaking out? If they can prevent a serious crime from happening to someone else (or at least make it less likely), are they in any way obligated to do so?

If we follow what you're saying, then we should leave babies to survive on their own.
/r/MensRights16/01/12 10:58 PM

It's not a matter of taking precedence, it's a matter of giving the greatest chance for optimal survival. Someone strapped to a spineboard has no chance of survival outside of a life boat (or alternatively, a miniscule one). A strong swimmer on the other hand, could possibly survive for several hours outside of a life boat, giving a chance for more help to arrive.

My issue with men pushing ahead of the women on boats has nothing to do with gender. My issue is people pushing ahead of people on boats. That is a reasonable argument.
/r/MensRights16/01/12 07:35 PM

I suppose if taken to its logical extreme. I really doubt that's the intent, as I doubt that's how elementary age children will read it that way. Apart from that, what's the issue with teaching kids to play for the love of sports win or lose?

It's not the lack of political correctness in this article that disturbs me, it's what he's implying. It sounds like he is saying that women and effeminate men are incapable of making sound decisions about sports. That is clearly a ridiculous statement and, in my opinion, not in keeping with the MRM's philosophy of fighting for all men's rights, including the effeminate ones.

I downvoted this because it's unclear, and it appears that you're comparing apples to oranges (abortion to vasectomy). You might (and probably do) have an interesting point, so I suggest that you repost it in a way that's more clearly worded.

What I mean by never having met them, is that you have no contact before the date, apart from setting up the date. I think you and I mean different things by high class. I wasn't just meaning expensive. I think this is just one of the unavoidable perils of online dating, caveat emptor.
/r/MensRights14/12/11 08:05 AM

As someone who has never dated in the 'high-class circles', is it common to date the person without ever having met them, or even been introduced to them? To me, it doesn't sound like this woman really high class (unless ~45k a year is now high class), so I'm not sure your objection is a valid one.

I've seen this thing posted at least 3 times on this subreddit, and I don't see how this is a Mens Rights issue. This could be something that's pointed to as an example of "female privilege" when in conversation with a feminist, but nothing more. Assuming you were made ruler of the universe, what would you change to stop this? The way I see it there are only 2 things that you could really change: The expectation that men pay for dates (or at least the first date). Societies reaction to this woma…

Sure. I'm not saying that feminists are Nazis any more than you were saying that the people in mensrights are creationists. It merely illustrates the point that asking people who feel persecuted by a group, about said group is of course going to give you a very biased opinion.

Upon reading this article, I think the title is unfair. Although the judge acted in an improper manner, they didn't instruct the jury to find the man guilty; they instructed the jury to return a unanimous verdict, whatever that verdict may be.

You do see the difference between genders (something very well defined with some grey area), and race (something not defined very well at all, almost all grey area), right?

I disagree. Men and Women are different, treating each equally is not the same as treating them each fairly.

I couldn't disagree with you more. Every person has their right to competent representation, and it's not the lawyers job to judge their client, it's their job to advocate on the clients behalf. As well, since when is being poor (a desperate need for money) an ethic?

First of all, this article is trash, and this author is making me come very close to wishing cancer on someone. Moving on from that however, I don't see a problem with Concordia letting this be printed. Freedom of speech means even the most ridiculous, asinine, and meanspirited comments can be voiced in a public forum, so long as it doesn't advocate violence.

Those deaths aren't necessarily even linked to the vaccine. They merely say that people who got the vaccine died, and don't list a cause. In that case, rick127's comment seems to hold about the same amount of water as Jenny McCarthy's views on autism.

It seems to me, that on the internet gender is 100% arbitrary. If you feel like you have a point to make, and you think the only reason no one is paying attention is because you're a woman, don't mention that you're a woman. Obviously that's not an ideal situation, because no one's gender should stop their voice from being heard, but that's reality. If you think it's one sided you should post as a man on feminist blogs, and disagree with any part of what the blog says.

The other day a friend of mine sat on a chair and broke it. I laughed and called him fat. A different friend said he'd come out to the bar, but he needed to grab a shower first, I made a disparaging comment about his hygiene. I went out and talked to a woman and got shot down, when I came back my friends said it was because I was ugly. None of that was emotionally manipulative, that was a bunch of guys giving each other a hard time because that's what we do. It seems to me that harassment is oft…

You're right of course, they aren't the same. When am I allowed to call small children cunts? Is 3 old enough? Or maybe you have a different scale, children between 3 and 5 can be douchebags. From 5-8, they're allowed to be bitches, and from 8 to 14 twats. Once they've reached the age of consent they can of course be called cunts.

You're the same person who wrote: Oh no! I've committed a thought crime. Bad man! Bad, bad man. So there's that cognitive dissonance right there. Moving on from that however, would the statement have been more appealing to you if it had been phrased: All kids, whatever gender. or is that also a "feminist" phrase? Maybe: Young kids. would fit your requirements? If not, please let me know where I can find this approved list of Men's Rights language, so that I'll never commit the horrid crime of fe…

Feel free to call a little kid out on their behaviour, but don't call them a bitch. If you were babysitting your niece/nephew/cousin and they threw their dinner at the wall would you call them a bitch? It's simply not appropriate behaviour. Edit: if you disagree, feel free to tell me why. If you think I'm not adding to this conversation, then continue to downvote, although I would appreciate someone letting me know where I'm off track.

A law allowing you to sue your employer for firing you because of your gender is probably something I agree with; however in this case you'd simply be firing them for not showing up for work for over a month, it'd be difficult to argue that that's a firing without cause.
