Have to figure the value of business and buy the other spouse out. 50% is theirs. Its bullshit.

Placate her and let her get an apartment. That will work well in your favor down the road.

My wife is an alcoholic and has some mental issues. She calls me a narcissist all the time. She has lost all her friends..family has retreated...and out kids can't stand to be around her. I still have friends, family and my kids love me. My therapist made sure I understood i was not a narcissist. Typically the person calling people narcissists are indeed the true narcissist. Ugh...sorry man

My wife has done this with her alcoholism. Does something stupid, apologizes, doesn't drink for a few days or weeks or up to 1 month once. Then as soon as everything seems "ok", she slowly turns back to sneaking and drinking...thinking no one will notice.

Yep...been telling myself that for a couple years now.

Thanks! I am still functional and my kids are well taken care of by me. I'm their primary parent and they know they are safe and can count on me. But yes I am also worried they are wondering why I don't leave their mom. I want to teach them right from wrong, etc. Their moms behavior is wrong. Me staying with her and enabling is wrong. Me divorcing her is the right thing for everyone.

Oh for sure I would never "keep" them from her. But only when sober, etc. I could not imagine them staying for an extended period with her....they would just call me to come get them. Unless she got help and sober.

And probably just the confrontation of it all...the divorce process. This chaos is known and I can manage it somehow. That chaos is scary and then all the control will be in the courts hands, per se.

Shes been a disaster for a while now. Everything revolves around her uncertainty...like you said How did she get 50/50 custody with her addiction? And dui? How old are the kids...are they safe with her and do they even want to be with her?

Time with the kids. Even though my lawyer believes they would be with me majority. Also, oldest 14.5 and most likely would say only wants to live with me anyway. I think that's about it really. Selfish I believe.

I've drawn lines and they have been repeatedly crossed. Yet I don't leave. However, I am approaching self preservation. Have to take care of oneself at some point. Sorry man.

Thanks man. I believe my wife is BPD as well. I tell myself be kind with myself all the tome...that I don't have to make a decision today...then it's another week, month, even year gone. I deserve better. Shit she deserves better. And for fucks sake my daughters deserve better.

For sure...thats why I asked. My attorney said my county is very against substance abusing parents. So hopefully that will happen. How old were are your kids. Mine are teens so attorney said they have a say as well.

Thanks. Why 50/50 custody...why would she get time with them at all if an addiction? How old are the kids?

Thanks for the reply. Totally agree. I am not really happy living this way for another day. Yet I every day...another day goes by. I have done so much to try to help her. And now I am simply enabling her to continue. There are no consequences...at least none that matter to her. I've been considering divorce for over 1 year. I'm ready. Cheating would be a deal breaker for sure. But I thought secretly drinking and getting drunk in hiding and not coming home or being a part of the family or drinkin…

It may seem hopeless, but it's not. Your kids need you. If you divorced you would get half of everything man. Doesn't matter how good they are as attorneys, the law is the law.

I was called that today. And self righteous. Because I want my wife to address her alcoholism. It is ruining me and our kids.

Man that's crazy. How old are your kids? I'm in colorado. I'm hoping for sober short visitations for her until she is clean. She lost her job 1 year ago.

Wow. How did she get 50 % custody with her habit. Also how'd you get away with no alimony?

Thanks. Does your wife have problems as well? Did you start the divorce?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
