I absolutely do not believe this to be true. Most households presently absolutely rely on two incomes. I will put myself as an example. Although my husband has the potential to earn more, we take home an equal pay because his job is very stressful and he needs to take time off more frequently. He has flexibility and therefore can do that. I have a more traditional job but my family relies on me for all of our benefits. Both of us are equally important to keep the family running. By that logic, banks would gladly give all sorts of business loans to single mothers. To people with aging parents that need to be supported, to parents of special needs children, etc. There are plenty of women who absolutely cannot afford to loose their income for 100s if reasons.
