Yes. I went off the rails a little in my thread trying to defend women who engage in risky behavior due to bad circumstances. This is also a big reason why I would defend women who engage in this behavior. Not every imperfect woman is a pickme.

right. we always say that women make choices for ourselves, that not everything we do is for men, yet i cant even shoot myself in the foot without being accused of doing it for male validation. i came from a dysfunctional, abusive household. very few people, male or female, would leave that situation as a HV person. that did not automatically make me a pickme.

most of us here will obviously disagree that theft and rape are comparable, but don't you realize that men already view it that way? the quote isn't saying that rape should be seen as theft, it's saying that by making sex work a valid line of work, it will only solidify the opinion that rape and theft are comparable. after all, if our body is a commodity and men steal it, it would be theft. she is saying that our bodies should not be commodities so we are not objects to be stolen.

But I have also worked in the service industry for many years. Anybody who gets that upset because an old person gave them a dirty look needs to get over themselves. The karen meme is not worth it.

This is not true at all. It peeves me when people say men age better/have better skin. They only say that because the standards for men and their skin are in hell. Okay I take back my statement for mental health but my point still stands for climate change. Climate change is an extremely accepted view point. You need to ask who his audience is. I think this is a bad example because periods are physical. A better example would have been to compare it to people who say their friends could not possibly be rapists/abusers because they personally have not been abused by them, or he could have said that depression does not exist because you might not see/experience it yourself. But either way this is a false equivalency. Denying systemic racism is comparable to denying systemic sexism.
