Thanks for your insight, and I tend to agree with you. I think that there is a balance to be found between outer honor (being subject to the group) and inner virtue (personal moral compass). Back around WW2, society would appear to still have leaned heavily on honor, whereas today we've swung completely to the inner moral judgement, but there's no concern for the check & balance of other people.
