Reactionary measures aren't always a bad thing, obviously sometimes you need reactionary measures to fix a problem. My point is that I want a far greater focus on proactive measures e.g. sex education, contraception, economic support from the state. Condoms break. Women lie about being on the pill. I am NOT defending that. I was saying that the instance where a man or boy is raped by a woman, that results in pregnancy, that then results in the victim being forced to pay child support, is rare. My argument was that overall, it makes up a very small number of cases where the father of the child was raped and made to pay child support. If she choses for the baby to live and before the first 12 weeks, the father chooses to not support the child (financially or otherwise) then we have the issue of the child being raised on a single income and being far more likely to live in poverty. I used to be a firm believer of men being able to waive their parental rights, within similar constraints to how a woman can through abortion. However, I think we have to look at the impact that would have on the child. I'm not shitting on single parents because they have an extraordinarily difficult job, I couldn't imagine what it's like raising a child alone.
