Not in any way whatsoever gender specific. The need to be seen as special is just a rewording of wanting the relationship to last once you become emotionally invested in a world and society where you see failing relationships left, right and center. So calm your tits, for every chicken sandwich there are container loads of dildos. Doesn't change that offloading your insecurities on your SO and expect them to take care of it still is and always will be a gateway into emotional abuse. And again, t…

Degenerate animals? Well, which one is it? Animals for the most part have quite rigidly defined mating seasons and rituals, a lot seem to only have sex for the express purpose of procreation and/or are truly monogamous... In other words, it's probably only animals that actually live up to what church and society used to tell us was the way to live. I wouldn't want to mingle with that boring lot. I prefer the sort of dirty degenerates only homo sapiens produces en masse. We are degenerates by nat…

Chasing after happiness is a pretty good recipe for unending unhappiness. Nothing about that is gender specific. What makes it appear like that is the delusion that somebody's happiness (or any other state of mind, for that matter) is tied to another person's attitudes and actions. The only pill needed in that regard is an adult pill. Life isn't always pleasant. Happiness is something that occurs in the moment and is fleeting by design. Accept that, accept that most of your life will not consist…

All that proves is that female arousal is not an evolutionary necessity. Even more, female orgasms may well be an atavism. In the end, nature doesn't give a fuck if a fuck is enjoyable or even by consent.

True enough, just that there is no inherent male advantage in endurance over long hours. If you were to pit men and women with similar times on marathon distance against each other on ultra-marathon distances, the women are more likely to win. If you chose shorter distances instead, it would be the other way round. It's the trade-off for the strength advantage, basically.

Physical prowess actually became more important only with agriculture. Hunter gatherer tribes had a much more even distribution of what each gender provided in terms of food. If anything, it was actually skewed towards the female side - gathering was sustainable and provided the staples, hunting the extra protein if available. Your thesis doesn't have a leg to stand on.

I can't provide some clever plan, but I see the entire pills debate in the context of a looming mental health epidemic that is inseparable from modern society or to be more precise from globalized capitalism's societal, economical, psychological and cultural impact on a fabric actually already stretched paper-thin by the diverging speeds of our technological and evolutionary developments well before that. Can you fix that on an individual basis? Sure for some, for some time. But reliably for the…

You seem to assume that intimacy, attachment and continuity are intrinsically linked. Nothing could be further from the truth. For some, it's actually more to the contrary: attachment gets into the way of intimacy and so can the prospect of ever seeing that person again. Insecure attachment styles and all that shebang, you could easily fill several semesters worth of lectures with that stuff. For others a little bit of danger is a requirement to even get going. How's attachment going to help wit…

That's a lot of words just to say that most people simply are too invested in whatever stupid narrative they keep running in their heads to ever be in a relationship with anybody but themselves (the movie version).

There is exactly one context, where being nice works out for a man: when that's what he decided he wants to be for himself, for his values, for his self-esteem, for what he is. The second it actually turns out to be about what he thinks it will get him, it turns pussies into death valley. It's not that complicated. But it goes against a lot of what you're told growing up. Not everything, because what culture tells you is multilayered and contradictory. In western cultures two of the main current…

Depends on the demographic though, so I'd replace "be more masculine"(or feminine, for that matter) with "always maintain polarity". Is there a difference? Well, yup, certainly, in my books. There is a strong normative aspect to masculine/feminine, that can actually turn the advise counterproductive when applied in a non-conformatist context. Take that bit out of the equation - don't be lazy, in other words - and play to the specific audience. A significant portion of my ONS are with liberal or …

You're setting yourself up for pain and your partner for failure, when you require everlasting perfection. But perfect for the night is certainly feasible. So indeed, why even want a relationship? I never found a convincing answer, so I don't.

The best indicator of future behavior is past behavior. As somebody with zero interest in LTR it's not a problem whatsoever to me, to the contrary, it's something I'm banking on. There will never be a shortage of women with anything but a secure attachment style.

It's two different planes of status competition, one for each sex. Women keep the score among other things by their clothes and time and money expendable for beauty, jewelry and whatnot, men tend to do it more by cars, houses and just plain old money. Neither has all that much to do with attraction, unless you're aiming for shallow. It has a lot to do with what your peer group will deem an appropriate partner though, but if you confuse that with attraction you're already halfway into personality…

A) Get a vasectomy, B) still no reason not to use a condom and C) nut in a different hole. It's not like there are no choices here, including ones that will make getting yourself into such a position virtually impossible. Why do people choose otherwise? Because they're confusing casual and being not quite sure about how committed they or the other involved person(s) in that thing actually are. And so everybody finds out the hard way.

I stopped at Tinder. Has a lot more in common with trash than just the first letter. It's good for picking up bimbos, but that's about it. You're a fool, when you expect anything else. You're also a fool for not walking out on her right there and then, preferably leaving her with a tab to settle.

Unconditional love doesn’t exist. The closest thing to it is parent to child and even that has conditions they’re just extremely easy to meet. You are too unspecific there. Between mother and newborn unconditional love exist, provided the mother is not disordered, is for the most part emotionally healthy and the aftermath of pregnancy and childbirth hasn't left her with hormonal, neurological, otherwise biochemical or psychological problems. But none of that is a condition of love, it is a list …

Everybody's scales got skewed by social media. Simultaneously in both directions, which explains the increasing weirdness a lot of people feel. Self esteem is down, the perceived average is up - hooray for filters - but also exactly because of that there is also an increased need to find somebody who'll up their standing. I don't see anything gender specific here as such and it's arguable who gets the worse deal anyway. Do women have an easier time getting dick than men have getting pussy? Certa…

That said, I'm deeply perturbed at how many men on here, at least, don't seem to actually care about being loved or desired by a woman, or having her commitment. The gist of the rest of your comment suggests that the or-s there should probably be and-s. And that's exactly what I'll probably never get. Commitment is only important in the context of child-raising - which I'm very, very explicitly never was interested in - so that goes overboard right away. Love and desire aren't necessarily the sa…

Look, mental issues are fundamentally different than illnesses and injuries of the body. When you got corona, it is because you got infected by a specific virus and we can test that. When you broke a bone, we know exactly which bone it is and can have a look at it on a x-ray image. But when you got a mental issue, we have to rely on what the patient reports in language, which gets interpreted by another human being. You see the fundamental difference? Psychology tries to be a science and there c…

Even more interesting. For most people patterns are formed by the example set by their parents, including even the most dysfunctional ones. Evolutionary this even makes sense, in a horrible way. Be like the parent of your own gender, find somebody like your parent of the other - we know this constellation procreates successfully. Good job breaking that pattern. One last question, if I may. Bollocks. Women use makeup, because other women recognize makeup. Often down to specific brands used and the price tags attached. It's akin to slut-shaming, a peer group attempt at regulating access to the SMP. Men, if they even notice the makeup at all, are just as commonly repulsed as attracted.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/03/20 11:00 PM

err... maybe not by nail polish as such, but there certainly is such a thing as too much makeup in general and a lot of men find it not attractive at the very least, some even outright repulsive.

Well, good on the two of you then. But of course it kind of leads to the next question: Did you have your criteria worked out before entering into that relationship?

It is. You will not die alone though, unless you're also physically hideous on top. But there is a very high likelihood, that you will find yourself in a lot of more or less abusive relationships, if you don't do something about as many of those issues as you possibly can. Find a good therapist to help with that. If none is available to you, find resources to work on it on your own. Same. I'm aware that my long term mate choosing algorithm is not working as intended and I know why and how that happened. The radical consequence is that when I can imagine LTR with somebody, that's a red flag in itself. Also means that when I can't, they're probably safe enough to have some fun with.

Compatibility is a thing. Now, what does it say about you, when you're compatible with somebody with BPD? Let's just say, that there are lessons there that I learned the hard way. People who got involved with Cluster B personalities often have a tendency to paint themselves as victims and there certainly is an element of that to it. But it is often used to avoid the long hard look at yourself, that's certainly warranted. I wouldn't recommend. So, good for you, probably.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/03/20 02:11 PM
1

It is. For everybody involved. But you better don't let it show that you're feeling bad for them, high likelihood it will trigger the living daylight out of them. You probably want to avoid that.

Well, I was scared. Scared that I might get stuck in that eventually, with the next inevitably borderline partner. Probably counts as a scar too.

Well, it's not something you can have (like the flu), it's a description of what you are. Big ontological difference there. Sadly nearly the whole field of psychology suffers from unresolved physics envy and does next to nothing to avoid that blurring of the lines. Whatever, but I didn't imply anything about you. Frankly, I didn't even spend a single thought on the person behind the post. Anyway, does feeling bad for people with bpd help them or their victims in any way whatsoever?

I can see where you're coming from, it can be a deeply unsettling experience. For me, it's no longer about being scared though, but it certainly was at some point. Here's the thing: there are reasons why you and me ended up with those women and those don't magically disappear. I've dealt with a lot of them, but meaningful relationships are primal. I'm not scared, I simply don't trust myself there. To me, the mere thought of entering a relationship is a red flag. Chances are I'm only considering …

Well, the whole cluster B has a lot of overlap within itself and borderline is known to be often co-morbid with more, so yup, they usually have. But there's also a lot of misdiagnosing going on. I've seen quite many borderline cases that would be much better understood as C-PTSD. Doesn't make much of a difference in terms of relationships though, as long as it isn't resolved.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/03/20 12:12 AM

OP basically describes a borderline woman. And to answer the question: I'd run for the hills. Been there, done that, and more than once. It's a significant part of my reasons for not doing LTRs anymore.

Always, as a matter of principle. I'm not looking for dependents and traditional gender roles can go and fuck right off. In fact, if I asked her out, in all likelihood she presents as a left-leaning intellectual. Alright then, so let's see if the empowered woman can deal with being shit-tested. If she can't, I was wrong in my assessment and I've lost nothing. She's either a tradcon in disguise or insecure and in need of validation (if there even is a difference), both is a waste of time. Exactly. We've strayed too far from the context of what evolution prepared us for. That is, from small, relatively stable communities - there seem to be rather hardwired limits to how many people we can actually relate to - where everybody knows everybody else. To varying degrees, from superficial familiarity to kinship bonds to intimacy. The loss of this relative social embeddedness, that also means everybody is known for something*, is mirrored by an immeasurable increase in perceived² competi…

Another thing that works is always making her feel like she's just on the verge of winning you over. Make your rare displays of affection feel like reluctant admissions that slipped from containment and many women will eat it up. I'm sure women employ this technique all the time to wheedle meals or attention out of their orbiters. Intermittent rewards are a cornerstone of successful conditioning. (among other things like smell) This is actually more interesting to me than your main point, which is a bit... boring really, because it's kinda self-evident. So let's talk about smells, about body odor. Smell and also taste have a more direct connection to memory than our other senses. See Proust's À la recherche du temps perdu for a famous example, and science agrees with the connection to involuntary memory. Depends. Verbally direct is rare for sober women, not quite so much for drunk or otherwise drugged ones. But there are a lot of women, whose body language is extremely direct. For some reason that seems to be even more common for women who aren't good dancers. Seems counter-intuitive, but you need baseline to read body language, so directness is relative to that here. It's not about how sexy she moves, it's how she dithers from her normal patterns when she's up for it. Maybe it's because good da…

But they are trophies. Literally, sometimes. Who hasn't seen dudes get into a fight over a woman? And quite often she will end up with the winner. Attraction requires some sort of sexual polarity. You see it even with homosexual couples. Modern society chips away at that from both ends, we have women entering more and more traditionally male social roles on the one hand and emasculated men on the other, some do it to themselves by failing to differentiate between ideology and desirability, some are pushed into it by the same economic processes that force women into the job market, because sole breadwinner role has become untenable while th…

Women can't stop rewarding behaviors, when the reaction to those behaviors is grounded in evolutionary biology. Kinda hardwired. And the same is obviously true for men. If women collectively stopped fucking super fast what do you think men would collectively do? Aristophanes wrote about this already four centuries BC. Does the name Lysistrata ring a bell? She organized a sex-strike of women on both sides of a war to end it. In the play it is even successful in the end, but requires women forcing…

My only expectation is for women to act according to their desires and emotions just as they are, right now, in the very moment, as opposed to some fucked up narrative about who she needs to be to find ever-lasting perfection. There simply is no other possible reason to get stuck fo…

It makes the point anecdotal at best though. Since it also goes against what the chemistry of our brains suggest - oxytocin release from sexual stimulation and oxytocin's part in creating bonds - and seems to be based on the false assumption that humans are monogamous on a species level, on top of failing to explain increase in single mothers, there really isn't much of a point left at all. Beginning to suspect the user bringing it up is just displaying a building block of her narrative there.

There is more to this than just that. Self-improvement or any other change relevant to what and who you are is limited by what's compatible in any close relationship. There's a price for modern emphasis on individualism. Now, imo it's a price worth paying, but you'll absolutely will have to get over some outdated social norms and models in the process. The alternative is to accept that limitation and find somebody who is in agreement there. And hope like hell they'll never change their minds. Ra…

Easy. Check for what actually controls her behavior. If it's her desires or her interests - whatever those may be - you got something you can work with. If it's the story she's telling herself in the back of her head about who she needs to be, you're looking at cray-cray and running for the hills is your best option. If those hills happen to be boob-shaped and attached to a different women, all the better, but the important bit is that you get moving right now.

Usually not a waste of her money though, quite the contrary. And there's your reason for pushing for marriage. This is actually entirely in line with what marriage historically is: an economic arrangement. To be more precise, an economic arrangement tied to the rise of bourgeois society, when we're talking widely adhered to social norm, so exactly when more people actually had some inheritance to worry about. If you confuse that with emotional bonding, if you fall for that ruse, it's entirely on…

Maybe. But from the perspective of what defines success in western civilization, they are certainly winning. Because your bank account is where the scores are kept. And then the same culture also tells them to be perfect mothers with a perfect family with a perfect white fence in front of your perfect lawn around your perfect house. Maybe the truth is, that there is no winning.

Cultural is the key word here. When it comes to dating and mating, there are culture specific actions and a culture specific order of actions. To succeed, you have to navigate both correctly. Or, and this is the much more interesting bit, consciously ignore them with style. It's quite effective at weeding out the intellectually bland and boring.

Shitty relationships happen for a variety of reasons and most of them are in line with the reasons relationships don't happen at all. Because it's simply not true that you cannot choose your preferences. Well, maybe in the most direct way it is kinda true, but that's some stupid oversimplification. Both are ego-narrative defenses, obviously. Quite desperate attempts to convince themselves they never wanted any of it in the first place. It's one of the reasons I don't do LTRs. Attitudes towards sex change, even libido does change. Life is short. What comes after the = in that equation to me is that you go and find a match for now. And if you don't right away, that's still better than to tie yourself down with somebody who isn't a good match any longer. Nothing with a price though, and here it's that you better stop obsessing about n-count. Who gives a fuck, as long as she gives the right sort of fuck often enough.

Evolution produces a whole range of mating styles and monogamy is one of them. Not particularly favored by mammals, but in the spectrum. Looking at the hundreds of species where homosexuality occurs in nature, there does seem to be an incentive: homosexuals are the most likely to adopt orphans in many species. Evolution doesn't give a shit about individuals, it's all about passing on genes and that's a numbers game. It appears that having a certain percentage of offspring stand in reserve pays w…

The human population has a huge amount of genetic material because we no longer participate in the standard evolutionary model. Debatable. Our genome shows traces of a near extinction event, when we as a species were down to a barely viable population, so not sure that qualifies as huge amount of genetic material, when we factor in complexity of the organism and population numbers. Huge is a good thing anyway, it's evolution's contingency plan. And we do participate in the standard model still. …

I'd be lying, if I claimed face is what I look for. More a threshold kind of thing and conventional beauty doesn't play much of a role there. Does she look like she just had a stroke? No, we're good. Let's try to fix that then. Her face is what I'm going to look the least at tonight anyway. That being said, the Chinese have a whole system for reading character traits from facial features. No idea, if there's anything to it or if somebody actually did a study on that. I'd be interested to read th…

The pills are a symptom, not a cause. This applies equally to all of them. They are individual attempts at finding answers to a collective problem. Sociologists would call this problem anomy - a state of lawlessness, in this case referring to the unwritten laws of a society, that define it's deeper fabric, describe how the reproduction of the collective is organized. Late stage capitalism, maybe. At least it is hard not to notice, that a capitalist mode of collective reproduction is inherently u…

The intensity of the connection with any given person and their rating on some abstract bullshit scale have simply nothing whatsoever to do with each other. The more you carry that scale around in your head though, the more of a threshold you will develop. At your detriment. And none of this depends on gender whatsoever. What matter in the end is compatibility - for anything that's more than a ONS. From values over interests and preferences to psychology, there are a lot of factors playing into …

Everybody is well capable of experiencing a chemical imbalance in their brain. Apart from that, what exactly do you even mean? Word is overused to the point of meaning nothing at all and everything all at the same time. We can about talk passion, compassion, intimacy, empathy, loyalty and whatnot. But love? It's a way to talk without saying anything and anything it may mean is better expressed in other terms and better experienced without trying to get a hold on it.

Not at all. Here's the thing: women who make a lot of money usually have to adopt male social roles. And they're eager to get out of them in private, but often quite incapable of letting go in public. Tends to end in weird relationship dynamics, which leave them essentially unfulfilled. Easiest game in the world. Anybody who knows what hotel bars are good for will attest to this.

What is the female ideal? A mind-reading dick. It's not only on men why communication around sex is so... cumbersome. I've seen too many women who can't bring themselves to say what they actually want, because in the back of their head there's a slut-shaming program running amok that causes a 100% mental capacity load-out. It's how starfish are made. My least favorite escalation of this is when you just stop, because sore dick is in no way more fun than sore vag and clearly it's not going anywhe…

"Damaged" is too broad a category, just not very useful to explain anything. Depending on specifics, we might be looking at (in no particular order): repetition compulsion, empathy as a path to intimacy (especially when she struggles to allow herself intimacy in other scenarios), hybristophilia and an assortment of other paraphilias, an attempt at preventing being dumped again by making herself indispensable and attraction based on somebody's ability to overcome adversity. Or any mix there of. A…

Stop moving the goalpost. OP is setting an arbitrary number. She might as well make him jump through a hoop. The arbitrariness is red flag numero uno. There are no rational criteria here. Why six? Why not seven or five? This is why there's a high likelihood this behavior is indicative of what's in store further down the road. Irrationality is habitual. Number two is the neglect of her own needs in pursuit of whatever motivates that (again, my money is on surplus enjoyment from suppressing. Not h…

All pills miss out. On the very simple and liberating fact, that relationships do not define us, if we don't choose to make it so. And with that bit of wisdom, they can just happen. If it's indeed a traumatic experience as OP postulates, we might be looking at repetition compulsion. Basically the brain gets stuck trying to answer a question it can't find an answer to. Or to be more precise, one that can be reconciled with the ego-narrative of the person. And so, instead of resulting in avoidance of similar situations/characteristics, they become an opportunity to get it right this time... No gender has a monopoly on being abusive. It's really not that hard. But too many people are stuck in a confirmation bias that is even somewhat understandable from just basic psychology. Everybody tries to maintain a positive self image. Just about everybody builds theirs with a strong component of gender identity in the mix. Of course there is an inherent bias to see one's own more likely in whatever is the more acceptable position. Really requires just a modicum of reflection to get past that…

I did not reject the studies as such, just the validity of generalized conclusions drawn from them. And that's quite different than conclusions based on personal experience, isn't it? Nice is one step from irrelevant. I would prefer it wasn't like that, but it is. And it applies especially to attraction. You may end up well liked, but that does not make you attractive. Attraction requires emotional spikes, a tingle, whatever you want to call it. Being nice, on the other hand, calms people around you and puts them at ease. Which is... nice. Right, I don't believe in science. Science doesn't need belief. It needs critical thinking, for example to evaluate the scope of what a study actually says. Hurt experienced is in direct relation to how much emotional investment there is in a narrative centered on the rejecting person. These narratives are always about relative social positioning in the end, not really about that other person though. Rape isn't about procreation, but dominance. You're right there, the chance for successful procreation from rape is diminished, but not impossible. The real impact though is where circumstances allow for continued rape. With humans that will create what is called a trauma bond - best known for the Stockholm syndrome variant - and a bond is a bond. It will create willingness at some point and procreation chances are up to normal levels again. From evolution's perspective it's just one possible fo…

Primate studies paint a different picture. There's no need for rape, when the female is absolutely open to getting more dick while the alpha isn't looking. Why would she? Well, why would she not, when that beta is nice, doesn't mind grooming and picking fleas out of her fur and drops the occasional fruit or small furry woodland creature her way? If the alpha notices, it's not her getting beat up anyway. From the females perspective it's a beneficial arrangement, you end up with more than one mal…

Depends on if that alpha was just the strongest or also politically savvy, if it was anything like with other primates. The average time an alpha actually gets to be alpha is quite limited, if he doesn't manage to establish alliances. Who killed a bad(ly liked) alpha is likely to rise. Nasty side-effect here is that this creates incentive for infanticide, if females of the species don't get fertile while still breast-feeding. There is speculation that this had impact on the evolution of human fe…

Humans are not a pair-bond species. That's simply nonsense. Just like in many other aspects, we are an adaptable species with a range of behaviors well within our evolutionary scope. What actually gets enacted is a matter of personal choice and cultural conditioning. But is then again subject to evolutionary selection, just that the environment being selected for is largely of our own making. Right now, that's not looking good for monogamy, is it? Not really surprising, given how monogamy histor…

It's the temporary version of a personality disorder. And an incredibly overstretched word that we make do way too much work. Trouble is, you never know exactly in which direction your current interlocutor is stretching it. So let's be more specific. I believe in intimacy. I need intimacy, just as much or probably even a lot more than sex. What I don't believe in is getting everything from one person all of the time, nor do I think I'm able to give anybody all they need all of the time.

I've come across this several times myself and had it confirmed from other women into it too: You're not really supposed to react to it the first time. Nor the second. Too complicate matters, that's definitely not true for everybody. Of course, there's no way of knowing without asking and that might already be a dealbreaker. Pretty stupid and dangerous, but there you go.

Madonna and whore complex. It's immature, regardless of which side somebody finds themselves on. Real life happens in the margins and that's fine. If you see somebody obsessing about either end of the spectrum, they're simply not done growing up.

It's not that easy. First there's a difference between whatever somebody fantasizes about while they're getting themselves off and what they'd be fine with actually happening. Then there's also different phases to it. Many men fantasize about women initiating. Doesn't necessarily mean they're submissive during sex after that. For women there seem to be also a taming the beast kind of angle and something like testing trust playing into it. The safe word as the ultimate shit test. But also: he's a…

Which is ironic, since they don't validate themselves, refuse to connect with their own emotions, but nevertheless have sex with their own right hand. I'm not even joking. Validation and emotional connection is only half the story. From all I can tell they want somebody else to solve their inability to get those without doing the necessary work. And work it is, often pretty unpleasant too. But anyway, that's deflection writ large.

Hm... while I'd agree there will be differences between social groups, I'd need a lot more to be convinced it's entirely down to social factors as you seem to imply there. For all I know, it might simply be that the incentives to lie about paternity are just as big a part of it as incentives for cheating. Either way though, the whole disaster is only a thing because raising children is a burden put more or less exclusively on the parental couple. Obviously that's an unhealthy state of affairs.

Actually you kinda can pull confidence out of thin air. Probably not your ass, or to be more precise that would be dependent on rather specific circumstances. Confidence is a state of mind and there are techniques for managing those. FFS, it's what about half of PUA is about and they basically just took it one for one from NLP. Yes, yes, NLP has bad rep and a lot of that is well deserved, there's certainly too much charlatanery and outright scumbaggery coming from that direction and a lot of it …

The point is that if mate choice is about sex and a transaction, all options are prostitution with some extra steps. If you don't want that, you need a way to get transactions out of the equation. If you're fine with the transaction, we're down to everybody pimping themselves out. And to an eternal squabble about whose bill it is. Btw, I'd go for option b in that world. Sound investment. Zizek likes to tell this story: In the near future, we just bring our sex toys to a date, so your vibrator can have a go at my fleshlight, while we're sitting in front of the fire with a nice cup of tea, holding hands and engage in some actual conversation.

If X is all that it's about, the only requirement is some cash and quite often less of it than you'd spend on a date. Legality might be an issue, depending on where in the world you are. Anyway, if X is all she's bringing to the table, than there's a name for that and what currency gets used in the transaction doesn't change that. If it's transactional, A to Z can be replaced by money, because that's essentially the definition of money. If, on the other hand, it actually isn't about X, and X is …

Dude, you took extreme outliers as representing the norm, after coming up with normal emotional health in the first place yourself. Pretty arguable who's not acting in good faith here. Did all who pretended to adhere to that norm actually do it? Of course not. But for any norm to last over that span of time, there have to be a lot more who do. Where all of them emotionally healthy? Again, of course not. But to make the point valid, it only takes a few.

There is exactly one person you absolutely need to be intimate with and that's you. Total acceptance and the nerve to face up to whatever happened in your life and the emotions that come with it. If you don't have that, you have nothing and nothing you do to fill that hole will work out as intended. Sex and intimacy with somebody else is a bonus, but not necessary. Paradoxically it will come a lot easier though, since you're not coming from a position of existential need.

I'm much more concerned about how rationality is commonly used to build intricate narratives to avoid having to face emotions than the other way round. How is this pertinent here? There is an implied subtext of acting on emotions equals a rather loose touch on reality, while the rational mind has it all mapped out on a near perfect internal map of what's real. And then you find out she's been financing her law degree by being a hooker. Where's your rationality now? She was perfect just two secon…

Nobody can rage and hold a grudge like a wronged woman. You better take that into account. False pretenses have a nasty habit of backfiring in that regard. Basically, the better they work with any given woman, the less you should use them. You must be quite young and under a certain age you might be somewhat right, but better not get into a habit there. It changes drastically later on.

Most men, really? Hm... I'm not sure about that, but it might be a thing about age brackets or cultures. Anyway, here's the thing: the male orgasm doesn't last very long and you need a break afterwards. A break that tends to get longer with age. Penetration is what gets most men off. Personally, I have a hard time getting there from oral. That's exactly why I love it. on 1. There's also a resulting negative feedback loop for men. They struggle to acquire the resources deemed necessary and so they're less self-assertive, which further reduces mating success, which has another impact on their ability to be self-assertive, which doesn't exactly help with catching up resources-wise. At the lower end of the scale the effect is felt the most, obviously, and less attractive or low self-esteem women end up with a choice of neckbeards, deadbeats, weirdos, addicts and …

And just as well have I seen dudes to whom sex was an afterthought, but they enjoyed the process of getting there a lot. This whole whatever pill thing is too fixated on poorly understood biology. It's confusion, obviously. People have no idea who they are and no idea with whom they are. Enter a set of arbitrary definitions that poorly match reality, but somehow a lot of people have a strong urge to make reality match. Guess it's one form of relief. Somewhat. Because the inability to enjoy casual, where the opportunity and a willing partner presents itself, and just the same the long game, when that's what's on the menu, for what it is, obviously gets into the way of developing a relaxed …

Men get cramps in the psyche instead. And in the brain. Between 15 and 25 you have a choice of thinking about sex all the time or having sex all the time and be it with your right hand. Gives you something between 20 seconds and a few minutes of relative mental clarity.

Remind him of his mother is a recipe for disaster. Same for father, for that matter. Those are relationships bound to fail, since they invariably revolve around issues from the past. Once those get solved, the relationship is over. Once one party realizes they're actually only an actor in their partner's crazy theater it is also over. The more stable relationship of that sort is when you have to weirdos with complementing issues, but it's only more stable because there is less of a chance the sh…

What's keeping people from having, let alone enjoying, casual sex seems to be a lot more about self-esteem and body image issues than whatever morals they've been taught. Applies to all genders, too. The willingness to go with self-defeating ethics is just a front for that.
