Companies missing out don't even make sense. At least if we are talking about college. There are fixed number of engineering college. I mean you won't get better or more engineer even if 100% of them are women . Quantity would be same but quality would be lower since you need to use things like quota and affirmative action. You are probably reading shoujo or josei (targeted at women they are mostly romance ) maybe try seinen they are more mature because their target audience is adult men most anime are shounen.
