It was estimated that about 105 billion people were born since 50,000. Probably less than a 10 million were named and recorded through history (1 in 10,000). How many dead people names do the average English speaking person remember now. Probably less than 1,000

This is what happens when people want a certain thing but are not incentivised to be truthful about it (i.e they will be penalized by their potential dating partner or society for whatever reasons). At the end of the day, dating is a market and people with less desirable characteristics in general will end up being price takers if they want a lot. On the other hand, people with extremely desirable characteristics in general will end up being price makers especially if they are really strict.
