If carrying bricks is the only task in an organisation, then I agree. However most sections of Costco can be done just as productively by women as by men. Furthermore, a fit woman is much more physically capable than some of the out of shape guys that I used to work with. We had some hockey-playing lesbians on the crew who were as strong as oxen. This conversation is really making me miss Costco. We had some good times working there.

Don't get me wrong, we had some really strong girls on our crew who could handle the heavy lifting, but it would have been a fast-track to a back injury to put a small woman in a heavy position.
