I think the point is about mental illness and the capacity for accountability therein. There's a woman in my town who suffered PPD and cut off both her hands to avoid hurting the baby. It's tragic. So it's pretty serious and when I hear PPD I think "get her the fuck away from the baby" or whatever, up to and including a padded cell, as needed.
