Ok, so just to be clear, you don't understand how someone falsely believing that they were sexually assaulted might lead someone to be skeptical when they hear claims of rape?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/01/18 08:08 PM

Did you forget we weren't talking only about this specific case? And feminists wonder why men don't believe women when they say they been raped or what have you, I wonder why.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/01/18 07:58 PM

If people are able to interpret the situation as sexual assault, a similar situation could be interpreted as rape. We are no longer talking only about this specific case.

She's classifying an awkward sexual experience as sexual assault, so no, I don't think it'd be a stretch if she had somehow considered it rape too.

She didn't call it a shitty date. She called it sexual assault.

If you had the exact same mind as you do now...manner of speech, personality, likes, dislikes, etc....you believe you'd be equally comfortable as a female bodied person? You wouldn't care that people everywhere would treat you differently? I can't think of one instance where it would matter to me. Right now, I'm a guy, so everyone is always trying to talk to me about sports. I tell them I don't follow sports and that's the end of it. If I were suddenly female, it would be the same but with diffe…

I believe in gender as it relates to sex. I don't believe in gender as something that these "facts" state, particularly #3. Gender fluid expression is something a lot of straight cisgender people do (to a degree) already Women in American society can (and do) express their gender in ways that that can change from day to day, if not hour to hour. They can put on a business suit to feel commanding and strong at work or an interview, both of which are stereotyped as masculine traits. Or mix a jacke…

Except that there are numerous studies showing that many structures of the brain differ between the sexes... Yes, on a population scale, not an individual scale. Scientists who tried very hard to find differences between male and female brains said they couldn’t do it — not with brain scans and not even by asking seemingly obvious questions such as whether someone likes boxing or worries about his or her mother. They couldn’t find any single pattern that distinguishes between a male brain and a …

I'm unsure of why this is so damn confusing to some people. Because there is no difference of structure in the brain that can actually predict gender. If you think that there is, you have been misled. Not 100% of the time, because women are individuals like men are, but for most of my life I've understood and sympathized with men far more often. You don't relate to the women that you know, therefore you must be a man? That is some ridiculous logic if I've ever seen it. When I think about my pers…

Yes. The two ideas don't contradict one another. Women and men's brains have measurable differences, on average, when looking at a large population of people. When looking at an individual's brain, it is impossible to determine the gender, because there is no such thing as brain gender. Each person is so unique that the trends are not apparent on an individual scale. In other words, there are plenty of women with "male" brains and vice versa. There is no group of traits that define a gender, and…

But looking at that as some sort of identification for how male and female brains act and think differently misses the differences for the most part, and especially how they matter in day to day interactions. For example, women tend to try and invalidate an argument by looking for outliers and edge cases, have some preference for debating semantics in an argument. That's female brain bias. I don't know, it seems like both genders are prone to acting like this. I'd have to see evidence beyond an …

We are saying that your gender isn't always linked to your biological sex because hormonal mixups can happen. Okay, but the entire idea of something like genderfluidity doesn't make sense in this context. It's not caused from hormonal mixup. Let me quote this Huffington Post article I recently saw (I know, but I think it is a good measure for general sentiment) Gender fluid expression is something a lot of straight cisgender people do (to a degree) already ...They can put on a business suit to f…

I agree with everything you are saying. It's not that there aren't general gender differences. It's that the differences have a lot of overlap and are generally not extreme. The gender differences are more like these bell curves and less like these

I agree that there are general differences between male and female brains.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/17 02:37 PM

This actually kind of does support the idea that gender is more like a scale and not fixed to the biological sex. No, it supports the idea that there is no such thing as gender aside from biological gender. I've never even seen a good explanation for social gender that doesn't resort to the use of stereotypes. Liking things that one gender stereotypically likes doesn't turn you into that gender. Someone could have a "male" brain in this study and still be a female who acts feminine. If you can't…

Those feelings are based on your brain structure though. Where is the evidence for that? There is no experiment that can determine the gender of someone's brain. The closest that I've ever seen are population studies that compare men vs. women and find slight differences. To claim that feeling like a specific gender is based on brain structure is a stretch to say the least. I would bet that it is more related to hormone production. Apparently they do because it has been shown with brain scans th…

Yeah, that study is showing reproductive success. 17:1 was clearly 8000 years ago, as stated in the article. I don't have a narrative. I am just pointing out that what you are saying is mathematically impossible. For every woman having sex, there is a man having sex with her. On average, it is impossible for women to have more sex than men, because you can't have sex by yourself.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/05/17 11:30 PM

You said "more women are having more sex" No, more women are having less sex. 1/5 the amount of the men who are having sex. you trying to say since those 2 men have sex 5 times that the 8 men who didn't have sex are now the equivalent. Yes, that is how averages work. It's not as dramatic as 5x as much in the real world.

First of all, young men join ISIS mainly because they are promised sex slaves. If these men did not have such a desperately strong urge to fuck, people would not get blown up quite as often. This isn't the exclusive reason why young men join ISIS. I mean, just in general, in every war ever, you have young men killing each other. The vast majority aren't doing it because they were promised sex slaves. Men with a high sex drive tend to be angry and aggressive and do things like going on mass-shoot…

Feminism seeks equality of the sexes from a focus on women's rights. Except when equality is a detriment to women. If you are picking and choosing when you want equality, can you really call it equality?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/05/17 12:03 AM

Feminists, as a whole, aren't man-haters, they don't think women are better. You've got to get away from this strawman. I never said that they are man haters. The only strawman here is the one you are presenting. If you don't believe that feminists believe that feminism stands for equal rights, I'd be happy to provide you links and discussions. And sure, they are not a cohesive group, but it is pretty apparent that the majority of them believe that they are fighting for equality (while support t…

Sure, except there are plenty of instances in which feminists advocating for a cause that ends up being the opposite of equal. When a benefit to women equals a detriment to men and you are advocating for it, you don't get to claim you are fighting for equality.

It isn't a straw man when feminists literally claim that they are fighting for equality.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/05/17 08:02 PM

Which is fine, except that feminists themselves do not accept that as the definition. By claiming you are fighting for equality, it makes it a lot easier to demonize the people who are against what you are doing.

Feminism: the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes What really gets me is that if feminism is simultaneously about equality and not concerned with male issues, it directly implies that men do not face any inequalities. You're either for equality or you're not. Thus, feminism is not about equality but rather advocacy. However most feminists I have spoken to would never admit that.

Anyways, domestic Violence laws are deeply flawed for both men and women. You can fuck up someone's life for a very long time based on little to no evidence. Your situation is definitely unfortunate, but what are the percentage odds of this happening to a man vs. a woman? As far as I know, no one is claiming that it can't happen that it can't happen to a woman. It's the fact that this sort of thing happens much more frequently to men.

If you think I'm saying that less women go into STEM because they are less capable, you are wrong. I'm saying the reverse - the fact that more men go into STEM means that men are going to be more capable at STEM on average.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/17 06:07 PM
1

Obviously if you take a bunch of people who learn a lot of high level maths i.e. STEM Majors they are going to be better at it than others who don't. Correct, and when there are more male STEM majors than female STEM majors, where does that leave you when you compare male ability with female capability?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/17 03:49 PM
1

Is the argument that men are more capable of being better math, or men are better at math? I don't care about potential. I'm talking strictly about capability.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/17 03:16 PM
2

We are mostly comparing data for high school students though, not for people who actually work in a field that revolves around doing maths Then why are we attempting to generalize this to the population as a whole? And ability is not the only factor determining career choice It's not, but it is a pre-requisite. Regardless of the reason why more men are in STEM than women, if there are more in the field, they will be more capable on average.

One example is Mathematical Performance Assuming this is true, then why is it part of the feminist agenda to promote science and math for women? If it's because less women go into science and math than men, how do you figure that women are just as capable as men? Education should not be controlled for if you are trying to generalize these statistics to the entire population. It is completely unsurprising to me that women with advanced math education are as capable as men with advanced math educa…

femininity isn't fragile because it is considered inferior to masculinity. what is an unmasculine man called? any number of synonyms for girly, or womanlike. femininity has come to represent the lack of masculinity, and for that reason it is the core of most male-coded insults. What is a masculine woman called? It just as insulting to call a woman a man.

Okay, but that is an argument against specific GMO's, not GMO's in general. There are dozens of important medications that are produced through genetic modification. All that genetic modification does is increase the speed of what we can already accomplish through selective breeding.

I don't really buy that. I can't really say that I've heard of sexual assault ever happening at a gender inclusive gym. My perception of it is that women join because of social reasons: a) there is more of a sense of community because everyone there is a middle-aged overweight woman, and b) they feel like there is less judgement, probably for that reason.

The town that I grew up in was very homogenous and non-diverse, and yet there was a Curves there for a while. I also don't think that going to a woman only gym for religious reasons implies that they are doing so because otherwise they'd feel unsafe.

Fetishes existed before porn. Is there any evidence that they are increasing?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/09/16 09:36 PM

I don't see what difference it makes, especially since most men who are watching porn are still having sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/09/16 11:38 AM

The majority of men have become destroyed and degraded by porn. Porn is not "natural". How is it any different than sex? 500 years ago, you might go to a prostitute but the basic concept is the same. ...result men are crippled mentally, physically, and morally. Men are the leaders of families, and porn has made them incapable of being good leaders--true "betas". How so?

How are you supposed to compare marriage length between cultures that are completely different?I have no idea what the norm is for a Mehinaku tribe member. It would make more sense to look at the same culture over time. If you want to claim this about random tribes of people around the world, you can just as easily claim it about groups of people within the US. The idea of rape culture is not about society openly advocating for rape. It's out the small ways that rape is minimized as a criminal trauma and rapists are excused and their crime minimized. Few people will say outright that rape is good or promote it. Most who I have heard do that are hyperbolic elements of the manosphere. How is it minimized? It's basically on the same level as murder in cases where it can be proven. Half of the problem with rape is that it can be very nuanced and ends up be…
