For me it's all internal. In the past I'd carefully manage every interaction to get the response I wanted from the other person. Typical nice guy. Wanting to be liked, to not offend etc. It's exhausting. I needed to find my own inner values and respect for my self. If I think something or have an opinion or want to do something then I'll do it and I don't need anyone's approval for that. It doesn't come easy though, I have to constantly watch out for it. Even minor shit. Eg last Friday was a nic…

Down to 203lbs now from a high of 215. Had some beers on the Friday in the house with the Mrs which was a bad idea, to not blow my calories I had to eat too little which meant I was rough on the Saturday, which made sticking to my cals harder lol. Also fucked up my macros. So I’m not doing that again, wasn’t worth it. I’m better sticking to pretty much the same diet. I have one that works for me now giving 1600 cals a day and just over 160g of protein, I don’t get too hungry off it either. Intro…

Good week in terms of diet and fitness. On the 4th week of SL and settled into a good routine of 3 mornings a week. Current progress: Sq 45kg (99lbs), BP 35kg (77lbs), BR 40kg (88lbs), OHP 25kg (55lbs), DL 55kg (121lbs). 6ft1, 205lbs down from 215. Can already notice the change in my face and body – a long way to go yet but I’m concentrating on a week at a time, hit my gym days and follow the programme and the rest will follow. Focus this week was on upping my protein intake, got it up to an ave…

Cheers. I'm going to sit down today and work out a new meal plan that hits my 200g protein while maintaining my calorie deficit. I eat practically the same meals every day now which I've found a lot easier to manage, so should be straightforward to up the protein and stick to that.

You're right about BP, I can feel it on that too so trying not to push too hard as I don't want to do my arm/shoulder in again. Cheers for the ohp vid.

OYS 17 Physical – decent week. Fourth week of 5x5 and got a good routine going, 3 mornings a week, out of bed at 0615 and in the gym by 0630. Back into playing tennis once a fortnight. OHP is my weakest lift by far had to keep the same weight a couple of times, only lifting 25kg (55lbs) right now, only managed 4 reps in my final set on Monday. Might look into if there is any accessory work that might help, feel really sore today. I injured my right arm a few months back on the shoulder press mac…

When she asks 'why didn't you let me know' why did you not just answer the question? Stfu doesn't mean just ignore a question as that comes across weird. It depends on the reason behind not dropping her a text to say you'd be home later. If you forgot fine, if you don't want to then fine, AA or Am would work to depending on your style, but to not answer seems like you're making some sort of passive aggressive point. In fact the whole thing feels like you created a situation out of nowhere to tes…

Agree with that. Tbh that's what I'm changing in my approach this time. Stick to the basics for a few months while I unfuck myself.

Yeh it's a good idea cos more accurate than scales I guess if putting muscle on at same time. I am taking photos every week which was fucking painful at first but I use them as a good reminder of how far off I fell

OYS 16 First OYS post in about four months. I have to say I fell off the wagon. Stopped lifting, going to gym, eating utter crap, put on weight, looked and felt like shit for a while. The second time I’ve had an interrupted spell and I need to cut this out. I realise now my goals are too short term and not high enough. As soon as I see some gains, more and better sex, better shape etc, I take my foot off the gas. I need to think bigger and longer term. I’m in this for my whole life. It’s not abo…

OYS 15 Physicality and Health Two steps forward and one back this week. Fat loss proceeding well, back under 200lbs and seeing some visible muscle gains in arms, shoulders and legs. Had 2 days though of eating shit in the evening and exceeding my target calories. Which is just a complete waste of time and undoes the hard work done. In future I will be more disciplined about my target and will make sure I am eating enough. In hindsight I got carried away with the weightloss and tried to accelerat…

OYS 14 Physicality & Health Happy with progress so far. Hit my gym targets for the week, also 100 push ups per day as part of TFA’s December challenge. Under my target calories all week and hit my protein target each day. First week that I’ve seriously looked to reduce my carb intake – been hitting between 20 and 100g. I’ve found this worked for me and was actually a challenge to get in enough calories on some days. One side effect seemed to be that I struggled to get to sleep though the week wh…

Good point. Need to be more concrete with what I'm doing in order to measure progress. I'll dial in and be more specific.

OYS 13 My first post in OYS for a while was last week, it was pretty brief so I wanted to get down some thoughts on the last few months so far here to reflect on the mistakes I’ve made and to take away the positives. Found MRP at the start of the year. Made some decent progress, joined a gym for the first time in my life, hired a PT, fixed my diet and stuck to the plan for 3 months. In that time read WISNIFG, NMMNG which had a big impact on me. My whole attitude at home changed and the atmospher…

That's right. Back to once a month, lights off. Had got it up to three times a week including day time and lights on, which was a big improvement. Pulled a muscle and got out of the good habits I'd built and before you know back to square one. I'm back to build that confidence and happier attitude and fun in the house with her and the kids etc rather than my moping self have to push myself out of.

Yeh not quite db but not far off. Made some good progress last time, frequency up to a three times a wk from probably once a month before that. Gym and confidence a big part plus general getting stuff together and being more fun around the house and with the kids etc. Last post was talking about daytime sex for first time since before the kids, also sex with lights on which used to be a no go. Next thing pulled something in my right arm while lifting and hard work unravelled for a couple of mont…

OYS Return 4 months since I was here 3 months of owning my shit followed by 4 not. 3 months no caffeine, no wanking, reading the sidebar, lifting had me feeling the most positive, strong and confident in my life. And somehow I let it slide back into shit eating, wanking daily and all the other no good ways of being. Reading back my last OYS post I can remember the progress I was making and the impact on my life. So I'm back. This week: pick up where I left off on my reading read my last few Oys …

how important is this? For myself it's been very important. My old blue pill self didn't really have many male friends, and, being honest, I always felt myself as somewhat apart from them, and not comfortable hanging out with men. I realise now this was so much my beta 'I'm not like other guys' mentality. That was my whole approach with women, my 'beta game' , and not having many male friends backed this up. Getting out of the mindset has really helped my journey so far. I got in touch with old …

For me, this girl is in love with me So, what does it matter? It sounds as though you have a disney fantasy in your head of you both falling madly in love and living together happily ever after. Do you believe this? That she is the special girl for you? Problem is I married way too young So you're bored with your current wife and want to try someone new. What are you doing about your home life. Where are you up to in your MAP? What's your vision for the future? This is where I came to my senses.…

I think you know what you need to do as I see you ask this question in a few different ways already. Let me tell you though I know how hard this is, i have been there. Fortunately I came to my senses before I burned my whole life down. You need to do the same now. You are pure validation for this girl, she has no intention of being with you, just enjoying you being there, making her feel good about herself, being her emotional tampon. You have to cut all this out. You have to be extreme with thi…

OYS Week 8 Going to start setting real, tangible goals for the week from now on. Realise my OYS has been more a collection of thoughts rather than anything that I can track. My goals for this week are: Hit my protein target every day Gym 3 days Tennis 1 day Finish WISNIFG Get half way through MMSLP Prepare and cook all meals at home Meditate daily Make list of jobs to do around the home Research holiday for August for the whole family Summary Although it’s 8 weeks I feel it’s just starting to si…

OYS Week 7 Had a week off OYS after week after recognising I need to focus on my drinking. Used to drink too much which I kicked last year. Last few weeks this has crept back in. Now I'm 14 days without a drink and keeping that up. Health/Fitness: Not drinking has given me a new energy and binned off a lot of empty calories. Feeling a lot more strong and confident. This is the first time since I was a teenager that I've lifted weights and after two months I can feel a new energy and confidence f…

OYS Week 6 A lot of reflection this week from me. Mainly prompted from a comment on my last OYS from u/Persaeus: I have a problem - I need to cut it out. and, no drinking (apart from Friday out with a buddy) don't really belong in the same OYS. now I don't know whether you're saying "I have a discipline problem" or "I have a drinking problem". If you have a drinking problem; I don't think any is allowed . . . but I am no expert in this field. Your report reads more like drinking caused problems …

Thanks. I have 'Meditations' as well and part of my discipline is to read from one each morning. Daily meditation is also a must for me on my path to give me some control over, and distance from, my thoughts. Only my thoughts can fuck me over and they are completely in my control. So no excuse.

OYS Week 5 Pissed off with myself this week. Two steps forward, one back. Not my usual grading post - using this to get to the bottom of want went wrong and what I'll do differently. Week off work last week - diet went to shit, average 600 cals per day over my target, at 202 lbs I'm a fat fuck and need to lose fat. This is priority number 1. This is about routine and discipline. When I'm at work I have a set lunch I take each day and I eat nothing else until my evening meal no matter how hungry.…

Thanks. Yes my diet needs some work - too much crap in there. I've sorted my lunches by making it at home and taking it in, before I'd eat all sorts of crap when i got hungry at work. Some work to do on my evening meals. Going to make this one a priority now. Cheers.

OYS Week 4 Health/fitness: Would give myself a C here. Weight down from 210 at the start to 201. Hit my goal of gym 3 times and also played tennis. Feeling stronger, took the kids and LTR to the park and felt a lot fitter in running around playing ball than I did in the past. Eating is getting better, hit my calorie goal for the week. Need to really start paying attention to what I'm eating. I've struggled all my life with dodgy bowels, bad stomach, diarreah once/twice a week. Always put it down…

OYS Week 3 Reading: Nearly finished NMMNG. A lot of my foundations have fallen away through that book leaving a real anger at myself and just how beta and pathetic I have been all my life. Should finish the book in the next couple of days and then will be moving on to WISNIFG. Also been reading through lots of old AskMRP posts. Health/fitness: Lost 10lbs now since starting my journey. Feeling better in myself, dropped a trouser size as well. Started my weight programme properly last week and am …

Thanks man. Yeh i have the working hard bit down, to the point where I'm new to the business and i get the feeling she doesn't know what to do with me. In one respect it's a great position to be in cos i can pretty much create my role. On the other hand I'm concious of not just doing stuff to please her. NMMNG has really opened up my eyes to all the things i do that are based on trying to get a woman's approval. So yeh, I'm going to keep lifting, working hard on myself and keep owning work, and …

Haha. Yeh it's a weird one for me, first time ever. I joined a new business and am working hard and doing a great job, to the point where i think she doesn't quite know what to do. My problem is making sure I'm doing things right and for the right reasons. From NMMNG i know i desperately seek the approval of women and do whatever it takes to get it. So this leaves a weird feeling i need to separate out which is doing good work because I'm a man and that's what i do, and not doing good work cos i…

Week 2 here. Uncomfortable week all round, realising a lot about myself, NMMNG hit hard, noticing a lot of things about myself, pathetic beta traits around women. Have a female boss for the first time which is really highlighting some of these problems. After my initial enthusiasm to crack on I realise I have a long way to go and the best thing for me right now is to STFU, keep reading and working out. Lifting: joined the gym now, spent some time with personal trainer outlining a basic programme…

First post here. Using this to be accountable to myself. Only found MRP a few days ago but already have learned so much about myself and starting to see a clearer path ahead. LTR for +15 yrs with 2 kids for info. Lifting: joined gym for first time in my life. I'm weak as shit and always have been. Got my induction tomorrow and plan to implement lifting routine 3 mornings a week. Side benefit of giving me something to do on my own. Eating: downloaded MFP and started logging from 1st May. Not much…
