We are likely to see a new form of arrangement come into existence. I called it "leased marriage" decades ago but newer internet folk have coined the term "relationship contract." Basically it would spell out duties and responsibilities and then be renewable on a time agreed upon by both participants. The disconnect with expectations between parties is causing a lot of this fallout and a cautious person with assets and freedom on the line is going to want to backstop or hedge his trade. No more …

What a bum expecting you to pick up the tab; you are totally off the hook for that if your name isn't on any of the loan paperwork. The only way you would get tagged is if you were a co-signer for private loans like what a lot of grad students end up taking on to get advanced degrees.

I believe there is a terminology crisis and the word which more accurately describes your behavior is "stable." The travesty here is that globally there are people who would treat you much better for a chance at that kind of stability.

For an easy cleanup I recommend baking on tin foil, and advise you try a slight lemon juice squeeze (acid helps cut the fat and tenderizes) with some freshly fine cracked Tellicherry pepper on thick-cut bacon to create a lovely lemon pepper hint to elevate your favorite burger. All glory to fine swine-time.

By all rights you should be getting an alimony paycheck out of that......sorry for the loss of your beloved cat that's just cruel. I don't know when the threshold was reached but this whole domestic violence accusation abuse has had to have collectively cost men billions of dollars at this point.

Sunk Cost fallacy has something to do with this combined with the fact that men's promises are generally held to higher scrutiny. We also don't like the stigma of being labeled as "failures" when a wed-locked relationship doesn't work out. You make references to your "wife" but it doesn't sound like your were ever respected as a husband and father based on the decade of behavior you describe. I'm sorry you are going through this and hope you can navigate toward a life you and your children deser…

This is a real horror show. I wonder how often this happens because I've heard this story before where a regular guy makes huge sacrifices to further his wife's career only to be stuck with the bill. In certain states (Hawaii, Illinois, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Dakota, and Utah) there would be an argument for spousal alienation where you could sue her affair partner for damaging the marriage and you get a payout. If there were any justice you would be entitled to like 1/2 o…

https://www.reddit.com/r/fatFIRE/ your journey begins. Anyone can reliably make about 5% to 7% on safer asset classes but the real gains are going to come from just making more income through businesses, partnerships and generally way riskier activities. It sucks and you will fail a few times but the world will reward you if you can serve it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
