2	Another Perspective on the Wage Gap Women are more often penalized for negotiating, as it tends to involve traits that are more typically associated with men, such as aggressiveness and a headstrong attitude. While a man may be seen as tough and ballsy for fiercely negotiating a raise, a woman will likely be viewed as bitchy and selfish. It all comes down to the difference in perception between the two sexes.
