wasn't that voluntary. .... yes, I know. That was my point. Again, not usually. Wow, really? Hey tell me again, what are the stats on exactly how many victims of sati got powers of prophecy...? In history, not remotely. You don't say. And I suppose you have all the numbers and field reports to prove satimatas protected their family and descendents in the afterlife? Though in their case it was "remotely". Literally. More importantly though your "logic" is very poor. lol could you BE a bigger paro…

Dude, by this logic, men having to die in wars throughout history is rare and almost entirely voluntary. It is a path that men take which consists of three stages, of which dying on the battlefield is the second. Deciding to partake in the first stage of soldiery gives men the status of hero, and also a good paycheck, great benefits, and preferential employment status for life even after leaving the military. Also they get to beat the shit out of anybody who looks at them wrong, because superior…

Isn't opposition to feminism a core tenet on which MRM is based on? Men's Rights is fundamentally opposed to feminism because they think feminism takes things too far and fights for matriarchy rather than equality, etc. FWIW I agree with you that it shouldn't be that way, but the men's movement we are talking about isn't the men's movement that exists in reality.

... Slaves are "paid" in room and board. Women are not. There is something very wrong with you if you're looking at marriage (I'm assuming that's what you're referring to?) as an employer- employee relationship. And besides, women do most of the unwaged labor of the world whether or not they have spouses looking after them financially. Most western women have paying jobs in addition to the unwaged labor they do.

Ah, okay, at least that makes logical sense. It's kind of sad, though, that the MRM would deliberately claim as truth what it considers to be absurdities, for whatever reason. A little too cynical a ploy, don't you think?

rape culture is when 43% of teen boys are victimized by girls I am curious about the enthusiasm with which this statistic is being owned and used here. If the genders in this survey were flipped - half of all women surveyed said they had unwanted sex with men - all the comments in this subreddit would have been mocking the study, insisting that unwanted sex isn't bad as long as the woman consented, that this is a feminist conspiracy to vilify men, ranting about how men are expected to read women…

People (men and women) are biased against women, and consider women less qualified/efficient/capable/etc in the workplace than men. For instance they evaluate the exact same work as being of lower quality if they think a woman did it than if they think a man did it. They rationalize their evaluations in terms other than gender even to themselves; there seems to be a large unconscious component to the bias. This effect has been shown in lots of different industries and fields - for example, in sc…

What do you mean one-off? Perpetraded by individuals on their own. Unorchestrated. Unincited by organizations, especially those whose main purpose is to fight that exact type of injustice. False reports are estimated to be as high as 8-10%. That number should be 0. And the universe should be perfect .... and I should be mega rich... False rape report numbers are the same as false ANY OTHER CRIME report numbers. That number is normal, given what human beings are. Sure, it should not happen, it is…

This isn't selective outrage. Nobody is saying regular false rape reports are fine. All we're doing here is recognizing a distinction between one-off false rape reports and deliberately orchestrated massively co-ordinated false rape reports. all forms of of drunk driving are unacceptable Sure but some forms are MORE unacceptable than others. As in my example, if MADD deliberately incites drunk driving from 400+ of its mwembers, that's WAY worse than any other random single person drunk driving. …

I was simply wondering why there isn't outrage on all false rape accusations. Because the rest of the false rape allegations are not deliberately organized and en masse. They're just one-off evil people being evil, you can hate those individuals but that isn't anything you can hold any organizations responsible for. Unlike this incident that MRAs deliberately organized and are to be held responsible for. I hate drunk drivers, but what would be totally outrageous is thousands of Moms Against Drun…

Please stop putting words in my mouth. Eh? You said exactly that in your first response. When I noted that the one and only documented case of organized, deliberate, en masse false rape reporting comes from MRAs, YOUR RESPONSE WAS TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT AND SAY "LOOK AT FEMINISTS! THEY ARE AWFUL IN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT WAY!" I had nothing to do with filling out fake forms .... While I'm sure it's true for a few MRA's, it isn't true for me. Eh? Who accused you personally of anything? All the statem…

Soooo you're just changing the subject from MRAs misbehavior to say "hey look feminists are so awful in some other way!" This conversation is turning out to be pretty illustrative of everything that's wrong with MRAs. 1) you guys manufacture the things you are always outraged about all by yourselves 2) The reason you exist isn't men's rights, it is solely to oppose feminism. Keep going, I'm sure this gets even better.

Yes, feminists are an organized group, but feminists have never deliberately made hundreds of false rape reports en masse. Women are not an organized group, and no women have ever deliberately made hundreds of false rape reports en masse as an organized attack either. As it stands, MRAs are the one and only group to ever organize in order to make deliberate false rape reports en masse, over 400 false reports in under 36 hours. The irony is just so ferrous.

Okay, so your argument is that this was not a protest against possible false rape reports, but a protest against vigilantism. Can you explain what vigilantism, exactly, you think would have resulted from this form? And how exactly it is to be distinguished from the effects you fear from false rape reporting? As I understand it now these are one and the same thing, the vigilantism you fear IS people being hunted based on false reports. Just trying to get your argument straight. ETA: and no, I'm n…

Okay you can't have it both ways. If you claim that the only harmful false report is one that a police department case results from, then MRAs did not have any reason to protest this form because the form explicitly said no police department cases would happen solely as a result of people filling out this form. If you want to defend this MRA protest, then you have to maintain that using this form to make false rapr reports is in itself harmful even though it will not result in a police case. But…

Okay, to be quite clear once again, MRAs would fully support false rape reports being filed against them by feminists en masse, as long as the false rape reports were made to ensure no feminist could ever get falsely reported for rape. Yes? We on the same page? You would totally go to battle against other MRAs if need be to defend the actions of feminists falsely accusing MRAs of rape on an official school form. Okay. :)

Oh, so it would be okay for feminists, for instance, to orchestrate a mass false rape reporting against MRAs as long as they don't intend for it to be taken seriously, as long as it's meant to be "activism" in some convoluted incomprehensible way? You would be 100% okay with that? You would defend these feminists with the same zeal that you are defending these MRAs?

I thought that false rape reports, which never happen, were acceptable so that the real rapists could be caught. lol are you even catching on to the irony of the only massively visible example of false rape reports comes FROM MRAs??

That's rape - twice as surr legally speaking because you were drunk AND you said no. I'm So sorry. Can you seek out some counseling or support, even if only on the internet? Even if you don't want to think of this as rape, which is perfectly fine because your experiences are yours to name, the fact that you brought it up herr says you're not okay with what happened, so support will probably help. I'm really sorry.

Rape is sex without consent. That is all. No force or violence or trauma necessary. They are not part of the definition. To elaborate, rape could mean sex when there is an explicit withdrawal of consent (they said no), or sex when there is an absence of consent (they didn't say yes), or sex when consent given was meaningless (they are legally incapable of consenting due to age or drugged impairment or mental capacities, or when consent has been extracted under explicit or implied duress such as …

the feminists were all blowing up over the text message conversation but as i read it i couldn't help but feel bad for what i could clearly see was an insecure teenager posturing for his friends. That's why feminists were blowing up over it, though. Because this posturing is so common, so ubiquitous, and it normalizes and encourages ACTUAL rape. Don't you think that's scary? Check out Tony Porter's "A Call to Men" (video here and transcript here) for another similarly harrowing story where this …

I'm not having children ever. I'll never benefit from subsidizing maternity leave. unless you live as a hermit in the mountains, never coming into contact with anybody in human society, then you benefit from subsidising maternity leave. Where do you think the people around you - your doctor, your gardener, your mail carrier, your banker - come from? Chiming in: I'm 100% feminist and I spend a shitload of my activism campaigning for legally mandatory use-it-or-lose it fully paid maternity AND paternity leave for all parents. It's truly the magic bullet that fixes everything - dads get to be real dads instead of absent "providers", moms get to halve their burden of unpaid childcare work, employers get no reason to discriminate against mothers and women, babies get the parental care and attention they deserve. It's fucking awesome.

The point is that feminism states that women have been the unilateral victims of all the oppression, since like, ever, Just FYI, this isn't true. Feminism recognizes multiple axes of oppression: gender, race, class, sexuality, gender identity, size, etc. Any single person, man or woman or other, is oppressed along some axes while being privileged along others. Straight affluent white cisgendered able-bodied sexual men are the only ones privileged along all the most powerful axes of oppression. F…

Isn't this a bit of a nonsequitur? The question wasn't "what are your views on feminism". The question originally was "Why does r/mensrights focus so much on antifeminism when most men's issues aren't feminism's fault?" There was no answer given. Instead, someone responded "There's antifeminist activism and men's rights activism, two separate things, and not all MRAs are antifeminists." Which I thought was rather misleading, since there don't seem to be ANY MRM websites or discussion fora which …

I think there are two separate things going on here: Anti-Feminism (keep in mind this is in no way anti-woman) and the Men's Rights Movement. I think you've hit the nail on the head. Are there any MRM websites or discussion forums which focus mostly on the latter? MRAs are not all Anti-Feminist nor are all Anti-Feminists MRAs. ... The second part of your sentence seems fine, but the first part is... misleading? I'm not sure how to put it. There may be a few people here who are not antifeminists …

I think statistically speaking, on average, it would be a trade up. Really? You think a random man in this world more likely to be worse off than a random woman? You do know most women (well, people) of the world live not in Sweden or whatever "feminazi" countries MRAs love to hate, but in places like India and China and Pakistan and such? Where societal hatred women JUST for being women is so blatant that practices like female infanticide, bride-burnings, girl-brides, polygamy, honor killing, r…

So you're saying that in the hypothetical dystopian future where STEM fields are hypothetically "gutted" by an influx of real biologically-inferiorly-brained women from hypothetical quotas, a hypothetical Men's Studies course in college will hypothetically engage in real action (destroy the hypothetical quota system, reclaim the hypothetically gutted STEM fields from real biologically-inferiorly-brained women, reinstate men as the rightful inhabitants of STEM fields), and hypothetically usher in…

If you ladies think you have it so hard you're more than welcome to trade places. Do you really think all/most men would be willing to trade places with an exact female counterpart, and that it would actually be to their advantage to do so? Or are you just imagining trading places with straight middle-class white childless western conventionally-attractive women who are also magically stuck at age 25?

But Feminism absolutely triumphs women as blameless. Irrelevant (unless all you're looking to do is get your 10 minutes of hate for feminim on). Even if what you say is 100% true (it isn't), it doesn't matter, since feminism is not the originator of that idea and feminism is by no means the most powrful proponent of that idea today. If you're looking to blame someone for this, look elsewhere, not at feminism. Statistics show that: Women make 88 percent of all U.S. retail purchases ... etc. Honey…

Sure, but that's like saying that subsistance farming has been around for millennia longer than computers, so farming your own food is more relevant and influential in developed countries today than being able to find your way around Windows. ... you're twisting a flawed analogy to the limits of intelligibility here! :) (Another smiley to reassure you, lol.) Look, I understand this is r/mr and you're basically here get your 10 minutes of hate for feminism on. In many ways, whether or not the "weak/nonthreatening" stereotype came from patriarchy originally, it's being perpetuated by this perpetual victimhood narrative. ... by feminists, you say. Even if I pretend for a minute that you're right about all this, I still don't see why you would seek to blame feminism for - or even mentionit in the same breath as - any of it. Female babysitter molests boy. Female mother of boy calls her son a liar. Female teacher at school calls boy a liar as well. Yes, let's blame the patriarchy!!!! You seem to be laboring under one of two misapprehensions: only men can embody the patriarchy, or woman == feminist You do realize feminist groups have a decades-long history of ignoring female-on-male sexual abuse. Two reasons for this: society has a millennia-long history of ignoring female-on-male sexual abuse, and feminists are not i…

I think it's less that women are seen as weak/nonthreatening and more that they are seen as victims. And I think you're wrong about this. "Women would never molest children" is clearly a statement pertaining to women's character, not status ... and "victim" is a status, "weak/nonthreatening" is a character attribute. It is silent on female sexuality. No, it's not. Remember the joke starts with how men and women are different - i.e. women do not have the deep and burning desire for sex men do. Be…

You're changing the subject again. ManThoughts's comment was about people's general attitude that "women would never sexually molest children", not "women should not be prosecuted for crimes the way men are". There's a difference here you don't seem to be grokking. The former attitude does come from the notions that women are weak/nonthreatening and women are incapable of aggressive sexual desire. PS: "It's just a joke, people don't mean it"? Really? It's only a joke because so many people belie…

Oh, are the feminist organizations you mentioned in the UK asking for community service for female offenders specifically because women are weak and nonthreatening? I am not aware of any mass effort to deny female sexual desire on any culture's part. You must be joking. You've never heard how "men and women are different because sex is a deep, burning, undeniable NEED for men"? Every redditor has said this at some point, every standup comic has a routine about it...
