I’m sure you already know, but start researching attorneys now. Don’t go with the cheapest one you can find or afford. Spend the money now to save the money in the long run.

For a while now, it’s gonna be one day at a time. It’s gonna feel like Groundhog Day. Like you’re just going through the motions of life. It gets better man.

Don’t drink alcohol tonight. It’s the worst thing for you right now. Now’s the time to be put together and prepared for what’s coming. Can I ask what state you’re in?

I was in the same position 5 years ago. 2 years of beating myself up and then something clicked. The last 3 years have been the best of my life. Don’t ever thing of doing anything you can’t undo. Please reach out to any of us at any time, day or night. You’re not alone brother.

Took me about three years before I took my life back. I kinda just hit a point where I was sick of being stepped on and put down by the same person. The best piece of advice I got while going through it was “nobody cares about you more than yourself, and nobody’s going to help you if you don’t help yourself.”

The kids were 10, 7, 4 when I left. For me, I only got to see them 3 nights per month, so my thought process was I can’t be miserable for 28days a month just to be happy with my kids for those 3 days. I was broken. I was depressed. I was drinking too much. The song “lost and found” by Iration was the song that made me put my two weeks in at my job and throw everything i owned to the curb and just leave. Kept going south, slept on a couch for 2 months, still call and FaceTime the kids, and our re…

Just did this last year. Moved 1,300 miles away. Warmer climate 20 minutes from the sand and salt water. Couldn’t be happier. I was miserable, and I hate to admit it, but it’s the best decision I ever made. I had to move away from my kids but I also needed to get myself back together and start again. I’m doing well enough now that I can fly up and see them for a week at a time every few months.

I get it man. I owe my ex-wifes attorney 36k and I pay her 31k per year. I made 39k last year (not including va compensation). I see my kids three days per month and I get them the day after chrstmas for 24 hours. I tried fighting for more and more, and she was even found indicated by CPS of child neglect and maltreatment, and all I got was more attorney fees from both sides. I'm actually moving out of state in a few days to try and start again, but i feel that shes going to do everything in her…

Priority number one needs to be you. Go out if you can and talk to women. Avoid online dating if you’re looking for something real, and like most people have said here, focus on your happiness. Hit the gym, go for walks, start drawing and trying to portray how you feel in your art. My vice was journaling. Documenting the good days and the bad, and what I had done that day. It helped me figure out what worked for me post divorce.

If you two can settle out of court amongst yourselves, it may be the way to go, but from what you said happened, it doesn't seem like that is going to work. I made the mistake of thinking that my ex wife was going to be civil through the whole process. I was VERY WRONG!

RESEARCH!!! Research attorneys before you decide to retain one, but get it done ASAP. Get the best attorney you possibly can, because spending more now is going to save you later. Never stop fighting for your kids.

Nothings going to give if you don't, and nothings going to change if you don't. You have to just be willing to accept the change and push forward. You need to take control of your own happiness.

I've got about a week. With this job, ill be gone for a few months at a time, but then i get a month off in between. I feel like I can use that time to "make-up" time with them.

government. New York State. Travelers from non-bordering states require a covid test before leaving the home state, quarantining upon arriving for three days, and taking another covid test in new york on day 4. if all tests are negative, you are good to go. if you dont do that, you have to quarantine for 14 days. its state law.

There's nothing written in there about Covid, and my attorney is addressing it in court. Should I keep my kids from her house until I can get proof that her sister is negative or has met the quarantine requirements? The kids are supposed to go back to her tonight.

Agreed. I guess what I'm asking is do you think I'm in the right for keeping my kids?

If nothing else, consult with a local divorce attorney. DO YOUR RESEARCH ON ATTORNEYS! You may have to spend more than you want, and the attorney may cost you more now, but its going to save you a TON in the long run.

You just have to maintain hope. As my kids get older, they'll know that their dad did everything he could for them. Mom had the money and bought them all the new toys and vacations and brand new clothes. Dad spent time with them. Dad made memories with them. They might have been in hand me down clothes and lived in their grandparents basement when they were with their dad, but they built forts and caught snakes and learned how to fish and learned to shoot and learned responsibility. When they ge…

I've gone through it brother. took 3 years to get divorced. I've hit the bottom, but it does get better. slowly but surely. my maintenance payments will be done in 2021. i only get my kids 36 nights per year, but thats the way the courts work. you have to MAKE YOUR OWN HAPPINESS! She takes all my money, but you cant put a price on being happier man. Stay strong
