As much as i try to relate to this sentiment but then if not for this forum I would have still been the naive loser I was a year back. Now I am still somewhat a loser but that naivete is long gone. I look out for myself, pray to my god (wherever he is) and try to be kind to the people who would have been in the same position as I was had I not found the material we discuss here.

I think this point is debatable. As OP has himself mentioned he is a CS major. I guess depending on different fields of study this generalization might not be true. But it is absolutely true in the case of Computer science. You can only earn so much from your network. And if your end goal is being a good engineer then you got to spend those long lonely hours reading up about your subject. I am reminded of Linus Torvalds quote - "Talk is cheap, show me the code".

It is not that confusing. For a begginer I would suggest to download headspace and do the guided meditation for 10 mins. Complete the basic pack and you will get a little idea what it is about. If you want to delve further there are multiple school of thoughts in hinduism about the true nature and target of meditation. But that much level of inquisition is hardly required by most people.

I dont think that there exists a straight and definitive answer for this question. If you would ask my subjective opinion then I will say no. We all have our addictions. Some we keep in control and they get categorised under goals and achievements. Some which we let decide our direction of life and these get categorised under addiction with a negative connotation. A better question will be are there any addictions which are not crippling? The answer to that is a definitive yes.
