Here in New Zealand we had an ad campaign about depression on TV. It was simple, straight spoken, by a well known rugby player who suffered from depression. It was aimed at combating the typical attitude of 'manning up'. If I remember correctly, it resulted in far more men contacting support help lines than normal.

The "victim" in that case could at any time have walked away, and didn't have any problem defending themselves. They were a willing participant in their own abuse. As a circumcised guy, I've only found being circumcised a benefit. You don't know what it's like to have a foreskin unless you were circumcised as an adult. I can't think of any reason why i wouldn't want to have mine.

At my high school (~3000 students in all), there were two 'accelerated' math classes in senior year. These classes are catered toward high ability students. The top 50 math students in the year get in; of those, 6 were girls. (Though one of those girls was in the top 3 in the school).

I would definitely support this idea. Make it airtight. Father is not named on birth certificate, and has absolutely no right or responsibility toward the child whatsoever. Edit: If I were in this situation though, I still don't know if I would do it. I would still feel like I was abandoning my child.

I assumed that almost everyone alive today grew up after the 19th amendment, so I thought there'd be enough time. How long does it take before women have enough time to take an interest in political matters? This year people who graduated high school in 1999 will be old enough to run for the US Senate. Surely women born in the 80s took a reasonable interest in politics?

I don't understand the notion that "Women simply haven't held leadership positions in the past because men, the meanies, wouldn't let them". For 90 years in the US alone, a woman's vote has been equal to a man's. Since the numbers of woman and men of voting age in the US are pretty much equal, why is it that men alone are able to prevent women from winning elections? If it comes down to corporate influence, why aren't women running corporations?

I hate the fact that I know the names of the men she accused. Their names should have been suppressed. Even though she has been convicted, there is always some social stigma about being accused of a sex crime. That's why I think name suppression should be granted to the accused as well as the alleged victim in sex crimes until there is guilty verdict.
