That's so interesting! To be fair, what photos you pick can say a lot about you! I am super into people who like to climb, and people who play music, so a picture of you climbing/playing an instrument is a really easy way to show me that you enjoy it. I am also really attracted to queer and artsy folk, so a bunch of well-framed, artsy ass photos is guaranteed to have me swooning

Do you think she's saying that any approach from men is as aggressive as your average catcall? Because her hypothetical is specifically about being approached on the street to be complimented on her physical appearance in relation to a specific kind of childhood conditioning. She didn't say she finds all kinds of compliments off-putting. And equating catcalling and cold approaching isn't sexist unless you believe that both are exclusively masculine behaviors - you can't assign the aggression of …

I'm (21F) poly, and have met my partners both on dating apps and in person. I've never just walked up to a person on a train and told them I think they're cute. I met one of my ex's when I trained her on my job's 3D printer, I met my current partner at a Makerspace game night after having talked to him at his student org table. I had another hook up within that student org, and an ace partner within my partner's close friend group. I also have hooked up with one of my friends on occasion after c…

None of the men in the examples you gave are negotiating properly, if at all. Because you /can/ negotiate in these situations. You negotiate your wants and needs against the other person's wants and needs. The problem with these guys is that they clearly value their own desires and autonomy over their partners' and aren't willing to compromise on it. "Do I look pretty in this yellow dress?" There's a difference between responding honestly and being an asshole about it. Your response shows whethe…
