If keeping control of the purse strings can be considered "economic violence" can wasting money he has earned be treated the same way?Agreed. There is a need for laws like this, and keep in mind this law seems reasonable, only forcing husbands to pay for their wives' basic needs. My aunt was abused by her husband who did not give her any money. She had a medical condition and couldn't work so she relied entirely on him. Sometimes he would not even give her enough money to eat! The courts eventually stepped in and said he had to give her more money (it took months though), so he made sure she had enough to eat but he still didn… | /r/MensRights | 04/12/12 10:49 AM
| -2 | Killing babies no different from abortion, experts say.Well to be precise, babies aren't conscious until around 18 months of age (yes, there's actual scientific studies proving this). Without consciousness there is no ability to experience pain or have emotions. Babies work entirely on instinct (or like machines, if you prefer) until 18 months. Killing a baby is then no different than destroying a computer (assuming you don't take into account how other people feel about it). But even with that knowledge I personally would not be comfortable if we a… | /r/MensRights | 04/12/12 10:36 AM |

Response from General Mills regarding Kix's slogan "Kid Tested, Mother Approved"If you can boycott them out of principle, then I commend you! Consumers and customers could get much better service from corporations if most people were willing to go without some products in order to make a stand. But if you really want your KIX and still have a guilt-free conscience, you could send them an e-mail asking if they could include fathers in their marketing. If more people sent e-mails it could accomplish a change. A boycott would probably be an over-reaction at the moment, and it … | /r/MensRights | 04/12/12 10:20 AM
I've recently had a revelation about rape culture and I thought I'd share. (I posted it here and r/feminism)Here's how I see it: Sex with intoxicated people: it's a dick thing to do. Not rape, but selfish and mean since they might regret their decision later on. Sex with someone who was intoxicated against their will (you didn't know they drank against their will but you know they're drunk): a dick thing to do (see above), but again not rape - you didn't know their alcohol consumption was not their choice and you're not responsible for knowing that. Intoxicating someone against their knowledge so you … | /r/MensRights | 04/12/12 10:03 AM
I've recently had a revelation about rape culture and I thought I'd share. (I posted it here and r/feminism)I have had plenty of sex that I wasn't in the mood because my >>girlfriend kept complaining. I didn't enjoy it that much but it didn't >> actually hurt me. Also rape. Oh come on. Rape is forced and a traumatic experience. Calling everything rape just trivializes serious rape, where force is used and psychological trauma ensues. It's not cool of his girlfriend to harass him for sex, but if they have sex on a regular basis and she didn't use physical force, then he wouldn't be traumatized by this.… | /r/MensRights | 04/12/12 09:53 AM
I've recently had a revelation about rape culture and I thought I'd share. (I posted it here and r/feminism)"Rape culture is beer goggles". I'm going to repeat that one next time I hear a feminism go on about rape culture. | /r/MensRights | 04/12/12 09:37 AM
After just finding this sub a few days ago, I have some things I feel that I need to say, and would really love all your feedback."It is true that, especially in the past, some people have responded to rape allegations with bullshit like "Maybe she was asking for it" or making similar allegations, and I agree that that is heinous, but I don't think that is nearly as common anymore as it once was;" I feel the same about this. I can believe rape victims used to be blamed by a lot of people a few decades ago. But these days, on TV I don't see anyone apologizing for rapists or blaming victims. Actually I do: it's always the ev… | /r/MensRights | 04/12/12 09:31 AM
After just finding this sub a few days ago, I have some things I feel that I need to say, and would really love all your feedback.I think feminism needs to rename itself for two reasons: 1) This name is women-centric. The movement can care about men's rights, but the name just gives the impression that it's a movement that cares about women's issues and only has some tolerance for men's. I know we say "don't judge a book by it's cover" (the name of the movement being the cover here), but it's unfair that a movement for both genders has a 'cover' that only represents one gender. 2) Second-wave feminism. Trying to take back … | /r/MensRights | 04/12/12 08:50 AM
Response from General Mills regarding Kix's slogan "Kid Tested, Mother Approved"I wish they had mentioned something about trying to include fathers in their marketing in the future. Oh well... It's just a label on a box of cereals. Then again, it's also just a box of cereals and there's plenty of other brands I can easily buy from. | /r/MensRights | 04/12/12 08:31 AM
