Wanted to highlight this article because this man was a violent misogynist, domestic abuser, and rapist. (More details here). And he, like many others, exploited the anonymity of OLD to trick women into relationships with him. "In a phone interview on Wednesday, Ms. Wang, now 58, said she had not spoken to Mr. Cassidy in 12 years, but described him as someone who was 'not mentally stable,' who would be loving one moment and mean the next. She also described his drinking as excessive. They met on…

Once a scrote, always a scrote. Bill has been chasing skirts around the office for years (see the NYT article I just posted) - he has a thing for preying on his young female employees. That's the setting in which he and Melinda got together, after all.

About a year after the settlement — and less than two weeks after Ms. French Gates’s column in Time — The Times published an article detailing Mr. Gates’s relationship with Mr. Epstein. The article reported that the two men had spent time together on multiple occasions, flying on Mr. Epstein’s private jet and attending a late-night gathering at his Manhattan townhouse. “His lifestyle is very different and kind of intriguing although it would not work for me,” Mr. Gates emailed colleagues in 2011…

Long after they married in 1994, Mr. Gates would on occasion pursue women in the office. In 2006, for example, he attended a presentation by a female Microsoft employee. Mr. Gates, who at the time was the company’s chairman, left the meeting and immediately emailed the woman to ask her out to dinner, according to two people familiar with the exchange. “If this makes you uncomfortable, pretend it never happened,” Mr. Gates wrote in an email, according to a person who read it to The New York Times…

By the time Melinda French Gates decided to end her 27-year marriage, her husband was known globally as a software pioneer, a billionaire and a leading philanthropist. But in some circles, Bill Gates had also developed a reputation for questionable conduct in work-related settings. That is attracting new scrutiny amid the breakup of one of the world’s richest, most powerful couples. In 2018, Ms. French Gates wasn’t satisfied with her husband’s handling of a previously undisclosed sexual harassme…

Mr. Gates was Microsoft’s chief executive until 2000, chief software architect until 2006 and chairman until 2014. In recent years, Mr. Gates continued to serve on the board and as a technical adviser to Mr. Nadella even as he shifted his focus to his philanthropy, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He continues to serve as a technical adviser to Mr. Nadella. In April 2019, Microsoft said it would change its process for handling employee complaints of harassment and discrimination. The company…

Microsoft Corp. board members decided that Bill Gates needed to step down from its board in 2020 as they pursued an investigation into the billionaire’s prior romantic relationship with a female Microsoft employee that was deemed inappropriate, people familiar with the matter said. Members of the board tasked with the matter hired a law firm to conduct an investigation in late 2019 after a Microsoft engineer alleged in a letter that she had a sexual relationship over years with Mr. Gates, the pe…

Yes, HBC has pervasive negative side effects, one of which is altering your sexual attraction. Hormones are serious stuff that affect every part of your body and brain. It’s insane women are expected to drug themselves into compliance so some lazy dude can get 5 minutes of pleasure - fuck that shit. Read Sweetening the Pill for a complete breakdown of all the scientific studies on HBC. There’s a LOT the pharma industry doesn’t want us to know about.

One more for the theorists out there: Toward a Feminist Theory of the State by Catherine A. MacKinnon. She starts by looking at the connections between Marxism and feminism, then proceeds to analyze issues like rape, abortion, and pornography from a jurisprudence lens. Somewhat dense, but well worth it - MacKinnon laid the foundations for many radical feminist ideas today. (And she herself is a law professor at Michigan, so she knows what she's talking about!) A slightly less theoretical book I …

I’m looking forward to your series! :D It’s going to be incredibly helpful for young women to know the truth about these “sexperts” and how their advice evolved from the backlash against second wave feminism. I may write a post on Jeffreys’s book myself... it was the book that turned me into a feminist. Before, I just felt a vague unease with sex-pozzie culture, but I couldn’t put my finger on why its so-called empowerment smelled like BS. She gets right to the heart of the matter, providing pro…

I realize this post is relatively old, but I just wanted to thank you for this excellent piece of investigative journalism. I always suspected these online "sexperts" were a bunch of hacks, who had serious unaddressed mental and emotional issues. Before I read a piece of relationship advice, I always dig into the personal life of the author first. Is she someone I'd like to be? Is her partner someone I'd want in my life? Do they have a relationship that is healthy, stable, and something I'd aspi…

Nonsensical. You are either a Ph.D candidate (a graduate student in a Ph.D program who has passed their exams) or a postdoctoral employee/scholar (a full-time research scientist position, typically working for a university professor). This guy made up his job title to sound smart when he probably never stepped foot in a community college.

Harvard did a study in 2014 of their MBA graduates to determine why the gender gap still persisted. They found that 60% of the men expected their career to take precedence over their wive's, and 80% expected their wives to do the majority of the childcare. In contrast only 17-25% of women expected their husband's career to take priority over theirs - most expected to be treated as equals in career decisions and childcare responsibility. Guess which side's expectations won out? In The Second Shif…

I'm going to guess his girlfriend dumped him because he was an abusive, controlling piece of shit, and he went berserk when he found out she was seeing another man. Tale as old as time.

Oh my God, I was a huge Piers Anthony fan as a child. Now, I can't believe how creepily sexual so many of his books are. I'll never forget innocently reading "The Color of Her Panties" (Yes, that's actually the title of a book in the Xanth series) in grade school and getting weird looks from the teacher.

Everything by Deborrah Cooper on YouTube! Where was this woman when I was a teen? She's mature, no-nonsense, and gives concrete, actionable dating advice. Basically, she's the auntie I always needed. Bonus: She's also a WoC and discusses issues specific to the black community.

Not a dating book, but I found Men Who Hate Women and the Women Who Love Them by Susan Forward to be immensely useful. The chapter on "Why Men Hate Women" describes numerous red flags in a man's parental relationship, which every woman should watch out for. I also enjoyed If Men Could Talk and If Love Could Think by Alon Gratch. The former is about understanding men (even when men don't understand themselves), and the latter is about building a healthy relationship.

I also recommend reading Singled Out by Bella DePaulo (along with watching this documentary based on the book). It discusses how single people, particularly women, are unfairly stereotyped and discriminated against by society. In fact, research shows that single women are one of the happiest, healthiest demographics. On a separate note, I found it immensely inspiring to read about my feminist heroines, who made a conscious decision not to get married/have children so they could dedicate their en…
