She's already leveraging our kids on dating appsYou created a fake dating profile to stalk your soon to be ex wife? Who is the psychotic one? That's not normal or healthy behavior. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/01/24 01:00 PM
| -1 | Can my wife stay on my health insurance after we are divorced? It's what grownups do when they can view the other person as more than merely a hole. For most, it costs nothing to keep the ex on the insurance but it goes a long way in not creating enemies. If nothing else...it's really good leverage. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/11/22 04:19 AM |
What is she waiting for?She feels like you aren't pulling your weight so until she feels like the relationship is 50/50 she feels like a mother to you instead of a partner. Either that, or you are not doing what she likes so sex isn't enjoyable for her. Or...both. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/09/22 06:12 PM
Give it to me straight fellasIf his wife did that would he feel the same? I'm doubtful. "Oh btw honey, I gave my parents $50k today." "How kind and generous you are with our money, that was a great idea!" I think not. It's disingenuous and you know it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/08/22 04:30 PM
Give it to me straight fellasOP out here thinking he's going to catch a hottie and not have the issues that come with a partnership. Literally every person has baggage and OP is about to get a wake up call. It sounds like he brings a paycheck to the relationship and not much else. How marketable is that when you divide by 2 then subtract out child support and alimony? They all have issues. You want to be with someone who takes care of themselves better? Ok. But you're trading one set of problems for another. Investing time … | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/08/22 12:07 PM
Give it to me straight fellasThe court typically sees through attempts at financial manipulation. It's not hard to see when someone has tried to steal assets out of the marriage to keep the spouse from their portion of it. It doesn't go over well with the court. If you want to get screwed, this is how you do it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/08/22 11:57 AM
Give it to me straight fellasYou can use online calculators that are specific to your state laws to calculate your child support ahead of time. Alimony will be different because it is more situation based. Being that they live in an expensive area and she cannot move somewhere more affordable OP will be offsetting some of the financial burden. The court will consider the cost of living into the amount so neither party is destitute. A marriage should be 50/50 and so is a divorce. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/08/22 11:53 AM
Give it to me straight fellasIt sounds like one of their biggest problems is OP thinks his efforts and obligations should end at bringing home a paycheck. This isn't the 1950s and OP could fix things with a perspective shift. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/08/22 11:43 AM
Give it to me straight fellasGoing on the info and responses it doesn't sound like OP is introspective enough to see that he very well could be what's making them both miserable. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/08/22 11:37 AM
Give it to me straight fellasI'm long since divorced and can second this. They aren't screwing anyone. They're dividing by 2. If you think you're getting screwed by that math you should remember that a marriage is supposed to be an equal partnership. The court ensures that both parties get an equal share in what was gathered during the marriage. Savings? Equity? 401k? All divided by 2. You may have brought home the paycheck but that was an agreement between the two of you. If you see it as your money and not hers too then t… | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/08/22 11:32 AM
Give it to me straight fellasIt sounds like she's overwhelmed and underappreciated for her domestic labor. Just a heads up- that will be your labor in its entirety after your divorce. You may want to start practicing now so you know what you're doing when the time comes. Start taking tasks off her plate and continue doing so until you are doing everything but childcare while at work. It will help you after the divorce immensely-or it may just talk you out of divorce. Btw: domestic labor exists on weekends, nights, and holid… | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/08/22 11:16 AM
Give it to me straight fellasHear me out: Take 30% of your pay and invest it in sitters and dates. Literally stash the cash in a jar and blow it on whatever you think she would like every other weekend. Get extravagant. Be random. Have fun. It would have been alimony and child support anyway so it isn't wasted. Do the dishes. Do the laundry. Pick up after the kids. Buy groceries. Cook meals. Run errands. After divorce you'll be doing all this on your own anyway so it shouldn't bother you to start now. Do these things for a … | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/08/22 04:46 AM
Dating Deal BreakersMaybe they have sex with you and are disappointed. They give it a few tries thinking you were just nervous. It still is mediocre so they drop you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/08/22 09:23 AM
