I find it strange that you'd suggest the woman's charges should be increased and then use that study as an example. The author of the study, in that article, criticizes incarceration rates and states that she does not believe this information should be used to lock up more women. Rather, she asks that men receive similar leniency. I don't agree that the wave gap has been debunked. I don't find any violence in my day to day. I find your fixation on violence strange. And it seems your interest in it is anecdotal, but it's second and third hand. I think there's a difference between equality of opportunity and equality. I think it's increasingly apparent that equality of opportunity has not been achieved. I also don't understand what people mean we they say men can't defend themselves against women. When were you unable to defend yourself? I feel like I can defend myself against anyone without concern.

It seems to me, often when men want to reinforce the prevailing equality of gender, they resort to obliquely threatening violence. This seems to sidestep equality and exposes a sense of aggrieved anger. Telling people that your male kids will be raised to hit women, in a world full of violence toward women, seems like a statement intended poke fun at the notion of equality... As if to say, "if you want to be equal, I'm going to treat you like a man."

Most men aren't rapists? I think your read of the ops comment is uncharitably obtuse. Most men have not raped someone. However, it's quite likely that most rapists are men.
