in some industries you won't be promoted if you aren't married, because it doesn't look good to the clients and you can't participate in the "oh gosh my wife would kill me" kind of dickless banter. personally i would rather be a fucking beach bum than work under those terms but some guys don't mind playing that game, or are stuck there because of family or golden handcuffs or whatever. some guys literally have $millions in family trust money depending on it.
