That's one game where I actually was treated differently for being obviously female on teamspeak. It covered both ends of the spectrum. One dude sang to me, others left the team as soon as they heard me. Haven't gotten anything like that from TF2 so far, but I rarely speak and I only recently picked it up again. But that's maybe because I play with a group of Skype friends against strangers. One of the girls I play with does use the in-game voice feature and gets asked a lot whether she's 12 or …

Posting in a thread means you obviously agree with that thread, you don't even have to read what was said in context! And you can judge a thread just by the name! It's a handy trick for the whole internet. I'm sure he's devastated by your judgement, just as I'm devastated by how not ok you are with the comparison. I hope I don't get a spanking.

Oh, I see, you have to raise kids to know whether or not hitting them is good! I guess I also have to be a prison guard before I can know if beating a prisoner is wrong.

Lol, calling others retarded for disagreeing, dropping the name of an author to dismiss actual discussion... Having money taken from you by force and used in ways you may or may not agree with is a personal sacrifice and a social contract, and the people who want to do things differently are obviously obsessed with Ayn Rand! Who's the teenager?

Oh I'm fully aware. Unless it's about taking away their internet it's mostly herd mentality. What can one expect from mostly public school products in a state-worshiping military superpower? Admitting there's something wrong would mean they'd have to reexamine their views and come up with creative solutions to problems.

Don't take the downvotes personally. For some reason a large portion of reddit seem to believe hitting someone smaller than you is fine, provided they don't yet have control of their own impulses.

I didn't know that all I had to do to get sexual attention was to make a comic and post to the internet. Where are my colored pencils? I can't wait to have aaaall the booooys tellin me how purdy I am.

I think 7wap is saying objectification is not necessarily abuse, which I agree with. They're choosing a job where they act as a sex object, fulfilling a fantasy, and that's okay since they're not being abused and it's their choice to be there. Anytime we lust after someone's body, not their mind, it could be fairly called objectification, but again there's no inherent harm in it and the ladies signed up for that role.
/r/MensRights19/01/13 01:33 AM

Precisely. A romantic relationship is a consensual one; it's two people choosing to be together. While her being abusive is not his fault, he did in fact allow himself to stay with such a person. He can't control how she reacts but he always had the choice to leave or tolerate it.

Don't know why you're being downvoted. Any self-posted story anywhere on the internet can be a lie, and there's usually no way to independently verify. Sure, 4chan has that reputation, but one should always be skeptical about things that are easily fabricated.

And even if they were, the fact that they are Muslim is not why they raped him. Edit: Lol, downvoted for not automatically associating rape with Muslims I guess.

The use of the 50s image reminded me of something. I belonged to a women's group on facebook once (a girlfriend of a friend invited me and I didn't do anything there but lurk and occasionally argue against their entitlement and female worship) and I noticed they really, really liked pinup images and other mid-century stereotypical portrayals of women. They were largely sex-positive but I thought it was hilarious that they railed against what they think those images stand for, reducing women to s…

He can finish his education in other ways, faster and possibly with better results than wasting his time in a public school he hates. He clearly doesn't have a lot of love for his fellow classmates or the staff. She doesn't win if he goes elsewhere. My sister was bullied in high school and she finished at home, and had no trouble getting into college.

I've had friends in similar situations, and they ended up married to and/or having kids with the women. One friend in this situation thought he had it under control until suddenly she's pregnant after lying to him about the pill. The other one simply allowed her to order him around, as she demanded all his online passwords and kept him from seeing friends alone, guilting him if he ever dared have his own feelings. He even stopped talking to his brother because he was constantly pointing out how …

As long as women have reasonable access to an abortion and LPS can only be exercised in the time period where abortion is legal The problem with this is the father doesn't always have knowledge of the pregnancy in this time period. Mothers can abandon their babies at safe havens without even notifying the father, in some states at any time til the child comes of age. I feel the father deserves the same opportunity, so long as he has not made a legal pledge to care for their young such as by marr…

This. Just as with everything else online I only point out my gender when it's truly relevant and would rather be mistaken for a guy normally. I rarely play teamspeak games with strangers because half the dudes can't handle it for some reason. They usually hate me instantly. I've seen guys quit as soon as they hear my voice, but I've also experienced guys singing to me. Both extremes are irritating. Judge me by how I play, not my voice, not my gender. I don't want adoration, help, unwarranted ha…

Precisely. And there's nothing in the article that suggests that a babysitter was not involved that night. That's all I'm arguing, not that she's a good parent, but that we shouldn't extrapolate that she isn't from information that's not there, because that's illogical. There are people saying CPS should be called on her, I mean come on.
/r/MensRights05/10/12 02:02 AM

Again, this is not r/badparenting, it's mensrights, and you're assuming you know things you cannot know from this article about her abilities as a parent and how much she drinks. That's intellectually dishonest.
/r/MensRights05/10/12 12:03 AM

Not just that, but others are reading into it so far as to say she was binge drinking, that she regularly binge drinks and is therefore an alcoholic! Can we please stick to the fact, MRAs?

I'm not defending her. I couldn't give a shit about her. I'm saying let's not jump to conclusions about people; it makes us all look bad. There's no evidence she is putting herself or her kids in danger, and doesn't say where her kids or husband are or how much she drank, yet people are concluding she's an addict. Beyond the comment she made about fathers getting away with drinking, this has nothing to do with men's rights. It's a huge overreaction for something that doesn't deserve our time. A …

You can tell how much she drank from a picture of her laughing? That's impressive.
/r/MensRights04/10/12 10:21 PM

The way it's worded makes it impossible to tell if she was "falling down drunk" or if she tripped. I trip on things when I'm sober, and you don't have to be totally wasted to fall. Again, I don't think one instance of her falling is call to label her an addict. Even getting drunk enough to puke is not in my opinion "grossly irresponsible". If you don't drink often, it's easy to overdo it, especially if you're drinking with friends. She seems to prefer mixed drinks, in which case it's easy to hav…

If you read the entire article, it doesn't appear that she does get drunk very often. "While I joke about drinking daily, ("Hey guys! It's Margarita Monday/Tequila Tuesday/Whine-Down Wednesday), I truly only imbibe once in a blue moon." "having a drunken night once every Fiscal quarter" She also doesn't mention where her kids were when the playpen incident occurred, or who was watching them. There could have been a sober person present. The kids could have been at her folk's or a babysitter's. U…

Even if there were no long term health effects, hormone replacement is a life-long pain in the ass. I think he should get a second opinion, get a sperm count to see how his boys are functioning and get tested to see if they are precancerous before making a decision. Edit: The long term health effects of castration: emotional changes including mood swings, hot flashes, increase in breast fat when weight gain occurs, loss of muscle mass. Th average 15 year additional lifespan is the only plus, as …

They remove part or all of the uterus, and removal of the ovaries is often done as well though not required. Removal of the ovaries is analogous to male castration and is called an oophorectomy, which is fun to say. Premenopausal bilateral oophorectomies also tend to have a serious impact on quality of life and can lead to premature death, as the side effects include significant increase in rates of heart disease, osteoporosis, cognitive impairment and sexual dysfunction. That is why the very hi…

I also have no problem with businesses discriminating. If their business model is such that they see the need to incentivize certain types of customers frequenting their establishment, I'm fine with that. Why? Because for one, if it is an unwarrented policy, their business will be harmed by that policy and they will change it for the sake of their bottom line. Second, if a business owner/manager discriminates unreasonably, say they have a Whites Only sign out front, I would much rather that pers…

Women are specifically targeted for rape and sexual assault and other forms of gender based violence, most especially during times of war. Oh yeah? And who, pray tell, is targeted by non-sexual violence the most, and which group tend to bear the most total violence in war? I don't want to be raped, but I'd rather be raped than murdered! Women’s health needs globally are far greater than men’s as maternal death rates and reproductive health is rivaled by nothing that affects men at that breadth a…

I think you're right, but it's not just about gender. I've seen people apologize on behalf of any sort of group they could belong to, people from country X, people of race x, people of age x, etc.
/r/MensRights21/08/12 11:36 PM

Furthermore, I think it's an empty gesture to apologize for anything one didn't directly do, to people one didn't directly do it to. It seems to only be for self-satisfaction, alleviating unfounded guilty feelings.

This is what I think as well. An artificially homogenous group of any kind means stagnation of ideas, productivity, etc. But if you're catering mostly to young, straight men and their doing simple tasks you can't go wrong with hiring high school girls. Also, I would not want to be hired somewhere by people who hate me (for whatever reason) and only hire me because they're legally obligated to. I also wouldn't want to patronize an establishment that merely has to let me enter. I'd rather they wea…

In what way? I never said motherhood was easy. In the thread I merely point out that, in the US at least, it's entirely the choice of the mother whether she's a parent, whereas the father has to live with the mom's choice. Therefore, I don't feel sorry for women who choose to be a parent, especially those who characterize it as something they were forced into. Giving up a child for adoption, abortion and parenting are all hard, but one requires many years of toil and the others release one of th…

I do, and I think male reproductive rights are the most important aspect of the movement, since the inequality has lead to such detrimental societal effects and personal tragedies. Women with this attitude abound, and they all use emotional arguments which drive me crazy. Ouch, my poor nipples and free time!
