Thank you! That's a really good observation that it may be a regional difference because I've had the same experience where people usually marry within their class and education level. But I think that today you have plenty of women who are becoming the breadwinner and it's much more balanced as far as who generates the most income in marriages. It's sad in a way to see the claim there is no such thing as unconditional love. Sure it's not for everyone, but to think every woman exists to inherent…

First I just want to say I'm sorry to hear that that happened to you. I can't imagine how hard that is to be honest and while I know it's always a possibility that it could happen, I really hope I don't have to experience it. I'm definitely young and overly optimistic, I know. I think it's just a matter of finding what works for every individual. I'm personally okay with the idea of sharing finances however we've talked about how we would want to go about it so I wouldn't be entirely fucked. So …

I absolutely agree. Like I said, marriage is not for everyone but it does still have its merits for some people such as my boyfriend and myself. I just think it's important to realize that people want different things out of marriage now rather than just financial stability. And we just have to consider hey, the unexpected may happen. Haha life is weird like that, it could happen like that!!

Of course it is, my point was that as more women begin to make these wages and both parties are working that this will help steer away from the men losing half of their assets. Marriage is no longer about all women needing financial stability because many of us make our own money meaning we value marriage for things like tradition.

Am I the only one who finds it odd when I see "marriage is only good for women because they're gonna steal all the guy's money!!!" argument? It's just bizarre to me because I was raised that you go get your education or trade or skills or whatever and you go make your own money regardless of gender. If you want to be a stay at home mom/dad or spouse that's a decision you make with your partner later. My boyfriend and I are getting engaged soon and the general plan is that when we decide to spawn…

One of the issues still prevalent within this thread is generalizations, honestly. Feminism is terrible when lumping things together because even within the community, it's disorganized and there are several different factions. It always astounds me when Reddit references the libfems as the crazies when sometimes I stumble on the radfems who are fucking terrifying. Those two groups are basically at each other's throats as it is. One of the arguments that I keep seeing is that the ~real~ feminist…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
