It’s a classic “the lady doth protest too much.” Look into Leo’s history with predditors, child stardom and no real parental boundaries… even if he doesn’t identify as same-sex attracted, his native wiring is not for mature relationships with people of appropriate ages. He’s simply far too famous and devoid of real freedom to be anything other than what Hollywood needs him to be, and that is a jet-setting, rich, movie-generating playboy. For some reason, people have an easier time believing it w…

You’re absolutely right, it’s just an off-the-cuff thought, and there are, surely, countless exceptions. The thrust of the thought is simply that what women do to promote monogamy will look different than what men do. Contemporary dating has been broken by apps and trust issues, so whatever allows for humanity to return to viable nuclear families is going to be dramatic. If we can’t rely on preexisting religious thinking or social pressure/shame, there will be a new replacement eventually. The c…

Women are physically overpowered by men, on average, hence, their tactics will appear more Machiavellian. A false pregnancy allegation preys upon human frailty of memory and attention, much as modern politics does. As far as evolution is concerned, our species seems to prefer consistent, committed parental involvement. Not everyone with involved parents is successful, but every successful person had involved parents, by and large, biological or otherwise (which is why the modern ability to test …

Men in committed, monogamous relationships are less likely to expose themselves to women and situations wherein false allegations will arise, just as paternity tests, however much slower of a reveal they may be, also expose the unfaithful and prevent monogamous, committed women from being amongst their number. Not a perfect 1:1, not even suggesting it’s conscious, but humanity has been around long enough for regressive behaviors to have been weeded out by unconscious evolutionary patterns.

Has anyone considered that false allegations are how women enforce monogamy, while a paternity test is how men enforce it? Both sides have their tactics, and by definition, a “tactic” is going to appear reprehensible to the other side.

Evolutionary history may not be as obvious in a period of such a glut of human labor, but there was a time that allowing a man’s resources to go to a rival would have meant misery and death. We’re only ever one disaster away from relying on evolutionary programming.

The Epstein connection should tell you everything you need to know. You don’t need to convince insecure people to abuse their power and influence, you just facilitate it, and then they’re trapped, usually on a hidden camera. I was too young and religiously indoctrinated and too inexperienced in dating and learning another person before I felt guilted/pressured into marrying. After a few years, it became clear that the opposites that drew us together were the intractable fatal flaws that would tear us apart, as cultural differences were just too great to surmount. Many men often ignore the fact that, in deferring to the opinion of their wives, oftentimes they’re seeking an out, meaning, they may very well not want to do what you want them to do, and they love having plausible deniability that invariably leads to sex. Just two cents. “Pussy-whipped” is a strong word for what is a careful internal negotiation, one that may not prefer your company in a given decision.

It’s a decision on a spectrum: on one end, immature childbearing that leads to a sort of enclosure that forces a young woman into a permanent role (mother), foregoing life experiences that make for an informed, interesting mother. On the other, unfulfilled careerism that leaves one without the biological fulfillment that millennia of evolution have prepared us for, and that one needs to have externally validated through others following in the same footsteps. To your point, historically, women would have had a significant number of children just to get some to survive, leaving a partner in a better situation to bring home the bacon, literally or figuratively. Again, statistical or historical correlation doesn’t imply that money is masculine, just that women would’ve been pregnant for a significant portion of their considerably shorter lives. That said, men being associated with money isn’t an arbitrary connection.

Historic, reported instances are like dramatic news stories, they likely represent vanishingly small percentages of the population, especially given that an entire species based upon rape and kidnapping wouldn’t have gotten to where we are now. Agreed, nurturing partners would be desirable, but resources for raising children preclude that, which is why marvelously attractive women will marry wealthy hobgoblins (and likely cheat on them). Statistics matter here, a small percent doesn’t represent …

Feminine men tend to do well with women on hormonal birth control, which tricks the body into thinking itself pregnant and in need of a nurturing partner. Women not on hormonal birth control (re: those capable of breeding) seek out the aforementioned “masculine” partners, presumably due to an innate, unconscious desire for strong children. In an era so clearly overpopulated in some areas, it’s not unbelievable that, like every other false dichotomy, this is a matter of both/and.

I think I understand your positions, and I can’t say I disagree with them, I think we’re just taking different timelines as the goal. I look at the short-termism of viewing women as no longer dependent upon men, of currently being capable of self-reliance, as ignoring how few women for whom that is true, ignoring how much slavery the worldover that makes it possible, ignoring the social peace that grows out of having as many people as possible occupied by raising the next local generation. To add a bit of nuance, marriage was never designed for men, perhaps at all, at least primarily. Women are benefitted by avoiding the worst men through vetting as many options available in religious traditions, by finding one capable of committing to an enduring relationship. One has a low chance of success in that if sex precedes commitment. Women are the gatekeepers of sex, and those who give it away cheaply diminish the value of women’s bodies everywhere. Women need to push for greater social…

You’ve fully lost the plot. I don’t know who hurt you, but it wasn’t me. The thread was about how marriage strategy and prostitution are related at a pattern level. First off, your aggressive response is a bit of an overreaction to polite online discourse. Secondly, women typically don’t have choice in poorer communities and eras, their communities need/ed them to procreate more pressingly than to be educated, ergo, younger and younger average ages of marriage in these communities and eras. This definitely cuts both ways. I have very little time for women I’m not attracted to, and friendly, outgoing, considerate women can still find slivers of attention, but no amount of expended resources turns back the hands of genetics. Additionally, I want a partner with a giving sexual style, but I want a nice girl who gets it done in the bedroom, not a bad chick who can’t be seen in public. I get no benefit from a partner who doesn’t know how to behave, whatever the context.

To your second point, I mean, no one should get married without plans for kids. Marriage without kids is as wasteful as kids without marriage. Okay...assuming all of that is true, there’s great evidence that people often don’t marry their first choice. The options one has are all there are. Just like historical arranged marriages, love can grow out of limited options, but it’s about the structure of society and has little to do with love. So, I agree in part. Kids are the point of marriage, the social structure represented by a family. Without kids, marriage serves very little purpose, and if parents were more concerned with the busine…

I’ll agree with that. You’re on the money with how important shame is for the functioning of our society. But, to face facts, neither men nor women would sign up for marriage without a good deal of shaming and propaganda (ahem Disney). Between women sacrificing their bodies and employability and health and men sacrificing their health and employment options and freedom, no one wins immediately, but the persistence of anyone’s in-group means that tyranny is at least a bit farther down the road. Marriage is a contractual obligation meant to neutralize two people into becoming worker bees for a government, that’s it. In theory, men get consistent sex that allows for social peace, women get consistent resources leading to less threats to other relationships. Men don’t want to control women in marriage, they only want assurances that, in the event of children, they’re actually his. Women are natively wired to be turned on by, on-average, more heavily-testosterone-induced physical traits, t…

Because marriage is a business proposition, historically meant to unite clans and resources. If you have neither, sure, marry for love, but who cares, as that partnership is unlikely to have much influence on the future of the species. As a business partnership, it’s imperative that you run a business well, not that you love each other, though the former may lead to the latter, while vice versa is a toss up.
