Quiet, they're trying to hang me. Now isn't the time for rational thinking.

I do, in most circumstances. There are certain times that I may feel the parking lot is too busy, or the carousel is too far away, or there's some other reason that I don't feel comfortable with the situation. 99% of the time I'm happy to do it. Unfortunately I tried to give others the benefit of the doubt and explain one circumstance that might be a reasonable case for not putting away the shopping cart and I've been labeled Worst Dad in America as a result. I probably should have known not to …

Wow, you really felt it necessary to edit your post to recommend my sterilization? Can you at least admit that maybe you've jumped to conclusions a bit prematurely before passing down that sentence, your honor? I know asking for perspective on reddit is probably useless, but you literally know nothing about me. I am not a helicopter parent, and I am not oblivious to what that means. In fact, my wife and I are very hands-off, contrary to the one statement I've made on the subject. You and I might…

I have a job. I work Fri-Sun while my wife works during the week. We are probably in the top 15% of income in America, and while that certainly doesn't make us rich, it is significantly more feasible financially to do this as opposed to paying for two small children to be in day care. Edit - that sounds a bit pretentious. My apologies. The point was that daycare is expensive, even just for one child.

Tell you what, place your two defenseless children in a running car (need to run the A/C year-round in Florida when small children are in a car), turn your back, and walk away. Then come back and tell me you still think that's a good idea. The 30 seconds that's no big deal to a single man or woman suddenly seems like a eternity. While the possibility of something going wrong is miniscule, do you think you could live with yourself if you turned around to watch somebody driving away in your car? H…

Not to defend the lazy jerks of the world, but here goes: I am a stay at home dad of twin boys, and if I'm trying to get them in the car after shopping, it's sometimes not possible or safe to walk away to put the cart back. Either I'd have to move them from the cart into their car seats, then leave them alone in the car while I walk away with the cart, or bring them with me while I return the cart, and then try to keep them safe while we all walk across the parking lot to my vehicle. The safest …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
