Need a little advice or at least validationI am in a similar situation. I asked for a divorce about 8 months ago. We did therapy, individual and couple. And she was hoping those would make me change my mind but unfortunately, the more therapy I had the more my decision made sense. She took forever to get over the denial phase where she would convince her completely this is a “phase”. Because she’s threatened divorce multiple times during rough patches in the past, except mine’s not a threat. I am not fully convinced she’s come to terms w… | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/07/26 04:40 AM
Those of you who initiated a divorce, how did your wife take it?I’m going through this right now. Sometimes it is so hard I wish I was the one getting left! She goes through different stages. Guilting, shaming (about impact on kids), anger, professing love. Everything. Never know what I get on a given day! I try to take it all in a neutral state but it gets to you at some point. I think (fingers crossed) she’s finally come to terms and we’re talking about separation living arrangements. If I’m being honest, I’m drowning in guilt right now, so much so I was a… | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/06/26 07:50 AM
What was the thing that made you say you no longer love your wife? There was no one thing. It was death by a 1000 cuts for me over the years. Decided it was time before the loss of love turned into hatred. I still hope to salvage a decent cordial coparenting future but I fear it might get to a point of hatred. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/04/26 04:02 AM
Asking for divorce!I’m sorry you’re going through the same. I know it’s tough. But it’s an odd comfort to know I’m not the only one. Most divorce stories I end up checking are cases of infidelity. And the ones that were caused by unhappiness, mostly the women have been the instigator. Maybe I’m not as alone as I thought I was. I sure hope this phase passes. Not that the next phase of kids split custody, and legal process are gonna be any good but that’s at least part of the process. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/04/26 11:41 PM
Asking for divorce! The only times I’ve caught myself considering a change of mind was when I was overly guilty. Then I had to pause and ask myself if guilt should be the reason I put myself (also her and kids) through more unhappy / toxic household living! It sure isn’t. Ever since I came to terms with it, not a cell in my body wanting to put up with more. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/04/26 11:37 PM
