I'll be honest, I didn't actually read it either. On the bad side, this is ridiculous and terrible for all the reasons you mention and more. On the good side, the people pushing gender ideology down our throats are basically throwing their hands up in the air and saying "Hey you know what? We don't have a frickin clue".

To be fair, I just noticed that the article I posted doesn't mention its location. It's in front of the Manhattan criminal court, by invitation of the city authorities. If it were just a private thing, I might even agree with you, but this is basically a big middle finger to every man that walks into a courthouse. Newsweek's story

Imagine if, after the pro-life community manages to outlaw abortion, they put a statue of Perseus with the head of Medusa - the original version - in front of the supreme court. They wouldn't do something like that, of course, because it would be hateful and insane.

If the MeToo movement (and whoever the municipal authorities are who decide these things are) hadn't voluntarily elected to place this statue outside of a courthouse to nonironically represent justice for alleged sex crimes, you might have half a point. As it stands, this statue has NOTHING to do with justice for victims of sexual violence. Even then, beheading is not typically a punishment for sexual assault. This would still leave out the fact that Medusa herself was a murderous demon. So kill…

I don't know if you're even smart/honest enough to bother patiently explaining this to, but the alleged rapist in this story is Poseidon. The person whose head she's holding is somebody else: Perseus. Therefore, the MeToo movement is openly celebrating the murder of someone who is not Medusa's rapist, and frankly, it looks like the mother of all self-owns on MeToo's part. I wasn't suggesting you were defending the statue, if anything it goes to show that rape accusations have been abused since the dawn of time... I'm not really too familiar with all the interpretations, do you know off the top of your head who might have said it was consentual? Since the author doesn't mention. (Leaving aside the fact that, in any case, it wasn't really a true story to begin with).

The article says there are also other interpretations, that it was a consentual relationship, although it doesn't name them. More importantly, the guy whose head she's holding was not the alleged rapist. More importantly still, what kind of message is being broadcast by putting this statue in front of a courthouse?

Yeah. I don't really support the use of the term "Karen", though. It certainly describes a real phenomenon, but why not just call it what it is: a woman who is a bad person, or you could even say something about "toxic femininity". I guess what I'm trying to say is, calling people names is satisfying sometimes, but it doesn't usually accomplish much.
