I should have read the comments before I replied, came to say exactly this! You really need to look at both how the man treats his mother and how his own father treats her. My father falls into this category. My mom thought she snagged a real winner because he worships his mother. But lo and behold his father abuses the shit out of his family, verbally and otherwise, and my father carries on the tradition. Huge green flag seeing my husband's father actually treating my MIL like a queen.

True, but I'd say you should also look at how that man's father treats his wife. My mother always told me the same thing yours did, but she married a man who would move mountains for his mother while simultaneously degrading his wife. My grandfather is similarly harsh towards his wife, and I remember even as a kid thinking I didn't want a husband that treated me the way my father and my grandfather treated their wives. Meanwhile, my own husband's father adores his wife and has never spoken a har…

Completely agree with you here. I was pretty surprised when I started working full-time and my coworkers would comment on how I was out of my then-boyfriend's league. Later, when we married, those same coworkers remarked they understood once they saw how he treated me 😉

This is very sad to read, but I wanted to share some hope for those out there who read this and think it's over. My husband is the sweetest, most generous person I know. He would gladly run to a gas station a few blocks away to get me a soda if I say that I wish I had one (something he's actually done). He's happy if we have sex and if we don't, because he sees sex as "a more intimate hug". It's a way to feel close, and while he would prefer I be a participant, he's completely understanding if I…

Just my two cents here - I think it matters less what you consider GF vs Wife benefits and more your criteria for offering any benefits to a man. I really liked the post in the FDS handbook about being an "immovable mover", where it essentially says that if your authentic self is giving to others of your time and money, then do that. Give your BF small gifts of appreciation or bake him cookies and whatnot if it truly makes you happy, not because you think it will make him love you. And only do s…

Lol I showed that post to my husband and we both had a good laugh. To quote him "he sounds like a 'nice guy'". We thought it was especially messed up that this dude had the audacity to blame women for men reading too much into any amount of kindness or friendliness they're shown.

I wouldn't say we have the rawest deal just because things like ducks' mating strategies being primarily rape-based and lions killing cubs of previous males exist, but I will say that the difference between us and most other animals is that our need to live in a "tribe" is extremely important. It was a huge factor in our survival and frankly our dominance of the planet. So men who want to be part of a certain in-group of other men tend to follow certain ideologies. My advice is to look for a man…

This hurts my heart, my husband always comforts me when I cry, because he knows I only cry when I'm really upset by something 😔

Yes, there are some women who will act like that. You know what's funny though? In my experience, the kind of women who do act like that are MORE ATTRACTED to men who act out the typical redpill ideals (i.e., "maintaining frame" and "putting women in their place"). These are broken people flocking to other broken people. Why is it wrong? In the same way that it's wrong for a jaded woman to claim that all men are pigs who only want to use women for sex. In her experience, every man she's let into…

I'm kind of lurking here as I'm a woman and not ex-redpill, but I saw this post and had to say something. It's awful that man would suggest that a girlfriend or wife would think less of their boyfriend or husband if they cry in front of them. That's the epitome of toxic masculinity. It's not manly to have emotions, etc. My husband and I lost a beloved cat recently. It was sudden, so we were both completely devastated. It was also the first time I'd seen him actually cry (although he claims he ha…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
