I don’t think anything in my above comment could be construed as misandry, but please enlighten me.

I feel like I have a responsibility to mention that I’m gender fluid in this scenario for a few reasons. This is an exclusively gendered sub. My viewpoints as a gender minority (though incidentally in a quantum state of being in the majority as a man) aren’t typically heard. And I feel like viewing this article as a dog whistle to boycott woke feminists is absurd and harmful to society. But take that with a grain of salt, I’m just some person on the internet.

What really gets me is that this is on r/mensrights at all. Nobody is taking rights away from men, nobody is being oppressed because these opinions are being reported. These are fairly uncontroversial observations of people’s experiences with a movie that just so happened to break a record, and included a female lead. Good for her, and everyone else who worked on that movie. Have I seen it? No. But Reddit’s algorithm decided to show me the article from this sub and that got me interested.

The article is an opinion piece that interviews multiple women and the perspectives are varied: women who’ve seen it, with and without boyfriends/husbands/significant others. Beyond that the women say their partner did/didn’t understand on an empathetic level. That’s it. It’s a sample of people who have seen the Barbie movie, not all women. Why is it so scary? Is loneliness that bad?

No, but you ask consent before getting intimate. Women are not prey, they’re people. They’re not ‘something’ to be looked at like food or necessity. Shitty comparison bro.

The article is LITERALLY about women’s perspective and dating. No conclusions being drawn, just questions being asked.

Sounds like someone feels a little attacked. How’s that performance based society working out for you?

So, what’s the point of explaining exceptionality? Being an exception takes courage most of us don’t have. This is a post of an article about how women think men need to see what their perspective is like and the Barbie movie makes some good points that escape the male perspective on a constant basis. Wouldn’t you rather know what’s making women so upset?

And surely anyone in between or outside the gender binary, a la Da Vinci, Turing, and so on… So why wouldn’t you want a woman’s perspective on why you can’t find a date?

Nah, just happen to have a lot of sisters, and the misfortune of being gender-fluid.

Did you read the article? Dolls, or action figures, are excellent tools for scenario play. It allows people to step outside of their own perspective and experience things from a different and safe angle. The movie, however, seems to be less about the doll and more about the perspective aspect of playing with dolls, specifically how women feel en masse in a world built by men. The article interviews women from all around the world who feel heard/unheard by whom they’re dating because a lot of mes…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
