Damn. This sounds just like me. Both the alcohol and ownership of happiness. Reading the BPD shit has helped me push through and understand so much more clearly.

Maybe BPD. Probably not. I've spent the last week exploring these things and with great insight from the guys on this board, I've been sorting a lot of it out. It's more a codependency brought on by my supplicatimg father who was attracted to my mother because she derived her problems from her mother who had a supplicating husband. Personally, the psychological connections made through the reading and examples given have helped me take a very large step forward in understanding the dynamics of m…

Much validity here. I'm still exploring it all, so I appreciate the differing angles. Except the 3yr old vs 9-14. I'm not here to split hairs, but my 3yr understands things as well as my wife...At least that's what my butthurt beta self used to say to make itself feel better.

Very good catch. I do agree that it's difficult waters to navigate, but I'm finally strong enough to truly not put up with the BS anymore. And I must say, it is fucking liberating.

This is probably why NMMNG resonated with me but felt incomplete.

Jesus yes, the emotional blackmail. Now that I understand it for what it is, the amount of sense it all makes is wild. I can think of at least a dozen times when i would wonder why would my mom do that? And why would my wife do that? Emotional blackmail, since withdrawing sex and attention wasn't working (by my wife you sick fucks). Thankfully the office is my company office and everyone had the day off. Actually made for a good place to have a discussion. just like sexyshoulderdevil mentioned, …

I certainly prefer to not have BPD. It's very likely the symptoms being so similar to BPD are manifestations of the battle between being the "too good child" and brain (knowing I have needs too), yet I could never grasp it until now. Time to dissect and journal.

Yes, but it's been months. And WISNIFG. Both of these were very close to home. But they need another read as I was not nearly at the same level of understanding as I am now. Thank you for the inspiration to re read them.

I've read several of the books on the side bar and countless posts. I've made great strides with my MAP, finances, fitness, BF% and mental stability. Still feeling like something was missing, as if something greater was wrong with me and it's led me to see I most likely have BPD. But THIS link. This may have literally saved my existence. I feel like I was reading my childhood script. My core is shaken. I cannot thank you enough.

Damn son. This is my day right here. I'm having great success with the leangains 5lbs so far in 2.5 weeks. Was stuck at same waist size and weight for almost 3 months. It's so much easier for me with my macros and calories, but the biggest help was the mental focus I've gained in the morning. Breakfast always made me hungry and tired and added to my ADD. Much more focus now.

This one just hit me - "I don't give a fuck. Do it or get out." Maybe I'm codependent or I'm just not ready for it yet. I psyche myself up, ready to tell her, then I can't pull the trigger. I have a level of fear of abandonment from childhood. I was left alone a lot as a child since my dad was always working and my mother was always dealing with (yelling at) my sisters. I have a lot of work to do still. Edit: must watch that movie again soon.

Yes, but long before I was ready to read it or understand it. Right now, it hits home. Thank you for the link.

STFU. I'm still stuck here. I'm finally at the point where I understand myself enough that I can STFU. This is a very slow battle for me. For some reason, the anger has kept me from progressing. Being one who was all about instant gratification and generally a quick learner, this slow process has been grueling and difficult. But it's exactly what I've needed. I take too much for granted because of the ease to which it normally comes.

I cannot stress enough the importance of lifting. When I first began this journey, I recall reading posts about you MUST LIFT and LIFT ONLY. NO CARDIO and I would think to myself, "the fuck are these idiots talking about" When I was a child, I was your typical fat kid. Ok, fat fuck. 5'9" 235+ in 9th grade. I was teased a lot, yet I still had the confidence to ask out the hottest girls to the dance... Which never worked out, even though the movies told me otherwise. Enter high school, sophomore y…

I've definitely come to understand the difficulty of continuing to lose the fat. I've always believed you can 'outwork' a bad diet. Learned the hard way this ain't the case. To answer your question, yes I am keeping the calories restricted, but one of the primary reasons I'm trying lean gains is the fact that in order to keep the fat coming off, I could not find a happy medium between low enough to lose and high enough to not feel completely brain dead during the day. My business is I a state of…

Shit I own: Gym time. I'm in it, focused and making great strength re-gains. I lifted A LOT back in college, so my strength has come back on quickly and damn does it feel good to be moving weight around again. 5x5's have helped tremendously and I'm continuing that plan. I knew this though. Gym time and running were my escape from the family as a high schooler. This is easy for me. Hard stuff is below Reading. For a while, I thought I was pretty cool. Had some good success in the business, loss o…

THANK YOU for this: What I hope you come to understand is that the alpha male, the man on top of his game, the one in full control of his life, doesn't worry about sex because sex is plentiful to that guy. Something so simple, yet has been out of my comprehension for years. This was my pre-marriage self. I could get it whenever I wanted it, from almost whomever. In fact, my wife used to beg me to have sex before we were married. Back before I made everything about her. I've been struggling so mu…

Been a few weeks since posting here. The biggest thing I thought I needed to work on was finances. Tackled that. Had a great sit down with a spreadsheet and the wife. I realized in working through the numbers, that yet another aspect of my blue pill mindset was hard at work. I had convinced myself that since she makes a large part of our income, that she gets to have a role in directing the money. That shit is wrong. I took an assessment of our current economic state. We make a lot of money, but…

Shit I am currently owning: Gym time - 5 days a week gym, 6 days cardio (including my mountain bike riding) Eating Fewer distractions and better focus on my business Reading, reading, reading. Read NMMNG and half way through WISNIFG Shit I need to own (this is a long list, so I'll keep it to the most pertinent): Anger - I'm in the middle of the anger phase of unplugging and I've always been an angry type of guy. But reading and digesting, I'm slower to anger and better at taking time to understa…

Thank you all for the replies. It's just like any sport. It looks easy when you watch everyone else do it. Sometimes the first try is good, then you go out again and find your ass kicked. All of your responses are like having a great coach. I'm just finishing up NMMNG and I'm going to get right to WISNIFG.

All of this. This is what I needed to hear. Thank you. I know that a difficulty for me is middle ground. "seeya later fuckers, I'm alpha now." That's exactly what I'm doing.

I'm still quite new here, but have been absorbing and applying like a mad man. I read a lot of posts and this is the first one I've been compelled to share my past experience and limited success thus far. A lot of what I read, I think to myself, "yeah, that is just like me" but yours hit me right in the, "damn, I've lived that shit" My thoughts may be a bit scattered, but I do my best here! I can only give you my experience and I hope it helps! I shout and shout at her in front of the kids, tell…

Thank you. Great catch. I've picked up and have been reading WISNIFG In the gym Quit the alcohol Making it about me again. Working on myself. I read in someone's post about acting like a single man. That did a lot for the psychological side. Biggest struggle now, keeping my cool. I have caught myself every time since the blow out, but it's my most subconsciously trained reaction. On a fun note, wife asked why I was "dressing so nice and doing your hair up". I gave it my best shot, "I know it, I …
