"It's a word that's used, it's a word that's used." hats off to this guy for keeping his cool in the face of ignorance. also loved how she was increasingly getting more and more flustered. fucking hilarious.

I wrote a list of my sources for my own research paper for a similar topic a while ago. Take a look at the sources and see if any of them are useful.

So it's "unfair" to expect someone to acknowledge the fact that men's movements and events/talks are frequently hijacked and derailed into discussions about women's issues? I was formerly a feminist myself, but after seeing how sexist and one-sided the entire movement was I have since stopped thinking of myself as a feminist; no, I have no interest in a movement that seeks to demonize and belittle men, and I'm not interested in conversing about women's issues in a space for men's issues. I don't…

You don't need feminism because you're scared of men. If you're terrified in a room full of men then you should seek help. As a woman I don't get "terrified" while surrounded by men, trying to generalize all women like this is ridiculous.

If the OP was really against the hijacking of societal issues then she would have mentioned the constant demonization and hijacking of men's rights and issues. Modern feminists are dead silent when male events are protested into the ground, but scream bloody murder when men try to talk about their issues for a minute. It's not a strawman argument, it's the truth. This is not about you, and this is not about feminism as a whole. This is about the fact that modern feminism is disgustingly sexist i…

I'm a woman who wants equality in the form of egalitarianism, aka actual equality and not bullshit modern feminism.

Wtf? So it's okay for women to hijack conversations about men's rights and experiences (like they do all the fucking time) but it's not okay to do the same to women?

I also like how they act as though "conservative" is synonymous with "man". As a female conservative am I more likely to harass my male or female coworkers? So stupid.

So you know a lot about this subject but admittedly and deliberately use information that is politically biased? Also, not all conservatives view such content as "enraging" in your words. I'm a conservative dating a NB person and am very much in support of science as long as there is data behind the claims (such as global warming). If you know so much about this subject why not find an unbiased source and one that is actually academic? It's relevant in that mass shootings are not the only way to…

If you go into any college class, the first thing the professor will tell you is that Wikipedia is not a credible source. If you've found it accurate so far then that's great, but if you are admittedly not checking the sources then I have no reason to believe you as I do not view Wikipedia as a valid source and do not blindly believe anonymous claims. Women are less likely to be charged and convicted at all so the statistics are going to be heavily skewed any way you want to look at it because o…

That is also a very good point. You are absolutely correct - there are a LOT of factors that go into statistics like these.

Wikipedia is not the best of sources. And no, laws typically don't apply equally to men and women because women not only receive lighter sentences but they also are more likely to avoid being charged, let alone convicted, in the first place.

How the FUCK could you do this to a child? Kids are little shits, they pull each others' hair and hit each other. They're kids. An adult, however, certainly knows what they're doing when they decide to harm a child like this coward did. This poor little boy.

What about young women who buy guns? I guess shooters are a male-only phenomenon.

Want, sorry for my miswording. Those jobs are already (and justifiably) paid well in the first place, so it's not like the incentive isn't there. Women just tend not to want those jobs, hence why men dominate those fields.

You're absolutely right. My coworker and I work technology support at our university, so I would hope there's no risk for us to die on the job. Men dominate professions of physical labor, which coincidentally include very dangerous and risky jobs. They should absolutely be paid more for that. Not to say a woman can't do the same job, but women tend not to get those jobs in the first place.

You're right, there isn't a pay gap. The words "pay" and "earn" are not interchangeable, and they both mean very different things. I am paid the exact same as my male coworker, but we may earn different amounts depending on how much we work for that period. If our pay is $7.25 per hour, and we both work 1 hour, we will both earn $7.25. If he works 2 hours and I work 1, he will earn $14.50 and I will earn $7.25. That isn't sexist or oppression. It's basic logic. I had a male coworker a few months…

A lot of studies disagree with you, but again that's because women are less likely to be even charged at all. The data is massively skewed. I take a lot of statistics that report men overwhelmingly committing crime with a huge grain of salt.

Also bisexual and also egalitarian. You summed up exactly how I feel.

What the fuck. In all seriousness, number 3 really pisses me off. Maybe it seems as though more men commit crimes because women are less likely to be charged in the first place, let alone convicted? What types of crimes is this even referring to? Violent crime? White collar crime? All crime? Jesus Christ.

Utterly disgusting. People like this not only keep women in a constant state of victimhood, they constantly demonize men who have never hurt women before. You can never win with these people.

Thank you for pointing that out. Another redditor in these comments pointed out the same problem with CDC findings; it's frustrating to read this stuff.

I'm not familiar with Australian law. Is a retrial legal or do you guys have double jeopardy like we do in the states? If a retrial is legal I will sign this.

Like I mentioned, the research into male victims of sexual assault is very scarce so there are going to be inconsistencies and errors with different sources. Some sources I read stated that 1 in 7 men were victims, others stated 1 in 71. I totally agree with your point, don't get me wrong - you are absolutely right.
/r/MensRights14/09/17 01:44 PM

Keep in mind that we really don't know how many men have been raped because the problem with under-reporting is so high with male victims. I did expect some inconsistencies given the lack of research into this topic, so that's not surprising. Also, keep in mind that the 5-10% statistic comes from a source that is 20 years old. It's outdated.

That is totally mind boggling. I've heard of people discounting entire studies, sure, but not discounting one part of a study while believing another part. That is a new level of ignorance, jesus christ. But, of course, us women are ones badly treated in this society. Totally. At least you know better and are willing to speak your mind about it. Even with the lack of research put into this subject, there's more than enough evidence in lots of places to back you up. I agree we have a lot of work …

Thanks! What really bugged me is that a lot of these sources were really hard to find. I had to dig through multiple databases for some of them but it was worth it. :) One of the pieces was in high school for speech and debate, and was more or less just a less detailed version of this research paper. I wrote the piece specifically on male sexual (not physical) abuse and performed it as a 10-minute speech. I pointed out that society finds male rape not at all serious, and used the "don't drop the…
