Go back and look at crime stats for those cities in the 1980s and compare them to today. NYC had over 2000 murders on average through the 80s and into the early 90s. Why do you think it dropped? Better policing? More polite society?

I was on a temp duty assignment down south while I was in the military and was out with the guys in my class. The one guy that was with us was a hella nice guy and good looking but horribly shy. We see a table of young ladies across the room and I say to him “that girl right there is staring a hole in you man, go talk to her”. Girl gets up and goes to the bar, he walks over nervous like and strikes up convo with her. He literally disappears until tomorrow morning and shows up in class with a hug…

Access to legal abortion has allowed women to attain higher levels of education and profesional occupation which in turn leads to lower rates of children in poverty. Of course a lot of red states are already poverty stricken anyway, so this will be an interesting experiment unfolding over the next 10-15 years. Will poverty rates climb or fall in states where it’s severely restricted vs permitted.

The unintended consequence with this ruling is it will wake up progressive politics at a local level in amounts unseen before in the history of this country. Since it’s now the responsibility of the state, there will be much greater interest in who’s elected at the local level. Dems have historically been bad at this.

Project much? I never said they shouldn’t work. If women want to work full time and establish careers, that’s completely their choice and they should do what they feel is best for them. But understand that being rock star do it all mom and rock star do it all worker is a pipe dream that leads to decreased satisfaction because they’re not meeting society’s (or their own) expectations.
