I'm not equipped to offer a RPW perspective on this, but I like the Tody app for organizing cleaning tasks.

I really like this. Just that framing of "here's my problem" gives him the chance to be your solution.

This one is interesting. I'm new here and garbage at relationships. But I kind of like the ideas in Why Men Love Bitches about communicating once with words, but then with actions. (Like - if he often runs late, tell him once that it bothers you, and then just start cancelling plans when he's late.)

It would be great if guys brought this up. In my experience though, they're so afraid of implying that you are promiscuous that they won't ask you to get tested. They're appreciative/relieved when I raise it.

Was he like this when you met, or is it a new development since you started dating? If it's a new thing, I think you could say something ONCE. "Sweetie I miss your washboard abs! Are there lifestyle things we should rethink?" If this is just how he has always been though...IMO you have to take or leave. You can ask people to change behavior (if they're unhealthy) but not outcome.

I'm so glad you had a respectful conversation! Although this sub is 100% in your corner, me included, we are quite a small minority of women. It's reasonable your roommate didn't anticipate you'd feel this way - sadly, in this society, you're the weird one. Your roommate will probably want to keep bringing dates over, which as you acknowledge is reasonable, it's her home. Whether she brings them over after 1 date or 5 may not change the risk factors - you need actual information. I recommend the…

Reading through the comments - I think we can decenter men/the male gaze from our lives, while still being pragmatic about how to most easily navigate a hostile society. We're part of cultures that compulsively objectify women. Our appearance communicates a lot, and impacts how people treat us. IMO the utility of makeup depends on the person (naturally great skin or no., etc) and the culture (pacific NW vs. the US south, educated rich vs. middle class, etc.) Skipping makeup makes perfect sense i…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
