Depends what county in Jersey. I've been in an ongoing saga in Jersey and it's been over a year of wasted time and money. If you can figure it out on your own save urself a huge headache and financial cost

Civil or not I’d retain a lawyer and be ahead of the game in case she decides not to be civil eventually.

Unfortunately no we were residents for 10years and she filed in that county. We’re both residents of NY now. She filed a motion for get it moved to NY but my lawyer squashed it pretty quickly as I’ll have a better outcome in NJ then NY so just playing the waiting game. She’s not collecting any Alimony until it’s final so balls in her court

Sounds about right just keep your cool whatever happens in mediation means nothing in front of the judge and whatever you do agree on in mediation can always back track so in my eyes it’s pointless and just wastes time. Now if lawyers were present a little more tends to get done as the lawyers do the talking and since your paying them to be there your more inclined to make it productive in some way

Well what kind of mediation is it? Are lawyers present or not I’ve had all sorts of mediation and each and every one has been 100% pointless. Ive been in the middle of divorce in Nj or over a year and unfortunately my county doesn’t have any active judges so the filling in judge already told us it be 5+ years before we see a court room so we should figure it out in mediation so everything been at a stand still since. Depending how petty ur ex will be expect them to bring up everything under the …

Hardest part for me is she filed and is the one dragging her feet. Like she wanted a divorce I gave it to her and now I'm the one who's waiting to finalize it but it's always one issue after the other.

I was married for 6 years and together for 13. Currently over a year in divorce and I can say after the first month of separation and realizing not going back is the right move. To say she turned into a different person is an understatement. I couldn’t imagine trying to make it work and few years down the line we go back to thinking divorce. I’m in a 1000% better head space, financially and everything else. Just waiting for that final decree that will be a great day

I've certainly heard of a lot worse situations I consider that proposal a win in my eyes

I'm still in the middle of my divorce close to a year now and I did extensive research in finding my lawyer. I wanted someone with over 25+ years in the county I was served in. I wanted someone with outstanding reviews and I would try every avenue to see the pros and cons. You also need to call several lawyers and feel the vibe. I instantly knew when I found mine and it's been a relief he's managed to win every court motion we have been given and my STBXW must be going mad because she's got a sh…
