There's so much navel gazing that fits on in this sub. Is your exercise program perfect? No, but you're 17 years old and 140lbs. Do the program, eat lots of quality food. You'll get great results. You could add or change a million things, exercises, sets, rep range and people will argue forever about what is "perfect" for you. What matters is consistency in exercising and diet. Just hit the gym and the kitchen.

It's not time that heals, it's action. The guys that take forever to heal (or who don't ever) simply don't act, or don't act enough.

We have an offset account on our mortgage and we pay for everything with interest free credit cards. So I’ve got plenty of savings, just not “money to blow on bikes” savings.

Yeah fair enough. With that situation from 3 years ago- I blew that I way out of proportion. Things are going pretty well with the wife these days. I never lost respect so getting it back isn’t the issue. That’s the uphill battle a lot of guys on here face

I’ve really struggled this week with the realisation that I’m too much of a nice guy at work and that I’m being taken advantage of as a result. It’s funny, outside of my work I’m fully in control, demanding respect at all times. At my work I’m not vigilant, and more than that, every now and then I’ll allow people to disrespect me and just take it. I’ll say yes, when the default should be a straight no. I’ll laugh shit off when people should be “checked” into place. No surprise then that I work w…

I went 8 months without a drink and it completely changed my attitude to drinking. I never wanted to completely give up, as I enjoy a glass of scotch every now and then, but I was drinking far too heavily maybe every week or two and was behaving poorly as a result and it was also getting in the road of my goals. These days I find moderation so much easier and look upon people who are messy drunk with a mixture of sympathy and disgust.

I'm gonna try 5am. There aint much happening in the frankiejholden household past 9pm on a weeknight. And weekends can sort themselves out. I actually - don't mind getting up early, I'm just surprisingly tired/ run down. It's felt like more of an existentialist funk than a getting up early problem. Early starts haven't been a problem for me in a while. But this week I pulled some "procrastination with important stuff" bullshit that I haven't seen since my late 20s. I think I just needed a rest w…

First one in a while because I feel like i need to give myself a talking to. Height: 6’3” Weight 215ish Age: mid 30s. I feel a little tired and a little lost this week. I’ve struggled with my usual 4.30am wake ups - I’m asking too much of myself by going to bed too late to bounce out of bed. This morning was my third day in a row of sleeping til 6am. I am also having random - what I would call fight or flight responses - that are quite simply irrational bodily misfires. I feel a little lost with…

I know a thing or two about feeling stuck in well paid but low status jobs - as I had one for maybe 13 years. I made ok money, but I felt like the job was destroying my soul. So listen up: you gotta make a change. You gotta DO something or you will be 40 and putting up these bitch ass posts about how you feel lost and that you wasted your 30s. Anything and anywhere is better than where you are now. The money you are currently earning is a trap because you need to think about it in terms of "is t…

Congratulations man - I've just come home from hospital with a 5 day old baby. It's full on man. Weird thing to say at this point - but I've always hated when dudes get asked about their life accomplishments and they say something like - "My kids are the best thing that I've ever done." The only thing I would ever say to a dude having a kid is - be the man your kid wants to be / be the man that your kid admires. If all a guy has ever done in their life is have a kid - then that guy is a loser of…

The diminishing return is the thing in the any activity. Improvement or lifting is the same in this perspective. You can improve/get stronger only to certain level given time and commitment you are putting in. This is an interesting point. And I think each person needs to weigh up the impact of "diminishing returns" for each activity and the time required to make gains in each area. Quite often people who are killing it in a certain area of their lives will continue to focus much of their effort…

This week, I'm happier with some aspects than i am with others. Work outs were on point, and diet has me continuing to gain weight on my bulk. Where i need to focus is: On maintaining professional dedication and reputation building at work. This will entail getting there early (at 730 each morning). Avoiding gossip sessions which are a real source of problems for the organisation. Being more prepared than others - being prepared for each session with accessing appropriate resources. Saying as li…

Gonna be brief. Lifting was ok this week, though I am struggyto eat the kind of quantity required to sustain my bulk. Will go to the supermarket for more variety. Been on holidays the last week. Have been aiming for 8 hours high value activities (fixing the house, hitting the gym, working on the bike etc) - been mostly successful with this. Bike build is coming along, although it is still very frustrating. Diet has not been great, need to hydrate better. Been hitting the dance classes hard due t…

I have a similar situation. For me, when I go to work i have noticed that I suddenly focus on approval seeking. I have combatted it by simply being better than others at my job. Mostly this comes from working my ass off. However it's important that once you've kept your nose to the grindstone for a while, and your reputation is beyond reproach, that you pull back, lest you get seen as a yes man or worse (in my opinion), a company man. I think add value to the organisation, but demand your due.

Congratulations brother. I think one thing that is important for others to take away from your situation is the importance of your job status/situation. Being an engineer and having the ability to find well paying jobs relatively easily, makes a difficult situation a little easier. I've had a good week, been looking into using cues and rewards to assist in habit formation, and so far it's really working. I've set a minimum daily standard (2 hours) for work on a motorcycle build that I'm currently undertaking. And I've gotten back into my daily meditation and stretching habits. I've found that as long as I'm asking myself whether I'm being the most disciplined person in the house, I'm keeping myself on track.

One day at a time indeed. You're still young man, with these daily efforts there is time to sort this mess out. Don't be too hard on yourself. You sound like you are heading in the right direction, and you keep heading in that direction, grinding it out every day, you'll see real change. Keep hitting the bjj. Being humbled on a regular basis by guys that could choke you out just by looking at you, is very good for the soul.

It's classic "biggest guy in the gym" syndrome. You'll often see a big guy walking around the gym like he's ten foot tall and can bench 800 lbs but as soon as someone bigger walks in the gym - you'll see him almost literally deflate. Don't be that guy. That deflated guy should still be proud of who he is - he has achieved great things - he doesn't all of a sudden become tiny because other guys see this new - huge guy. Anyway.. Boxing is great for the street, as is Muay Thai. But fighting should be avoided at all costs. Even if you win you can end up with busted up hands/ face or land yourself in jail or court. Go to dance classes, tango is great, as is swing dancing, ( the more time you spend around women the more comfortable you'll get) learn a martial art, learn how to play guitar and join a shit band. Don't focus on needing to get laid. There's really no difference between being a 29 year old virgin and being a 30 year old one - except that you think there is. If you put all this pressure on yourself to get laid in the next 12 months, it will make it so much harder.

The word is exploitative - and if I have to explain why it's exploitative, you're not ready to go to Thailand. It's dangerous in that fucking prostitutes is a great way to get robbed, stood over, bashed, knocked off a scooter because both you and her got on it drunk, to say nothing of the HIV rates in the population.

Where exactly are you going in Thailand? STD rates and other issues vary dramatically across the country. I have lived and trained muay thai in Thailand and can tell you that the bar girl scene is both dangerous and exploitative. But I'm not going to moralise - what I do know is that because of the sheer ease and quantity of prostitution, it makes pulling backpacker girls incredibly easy. Particularly for someone as "alpha" as you sound.

ONE WEAKNESS - I approval seek at work, rather than being of the mindset -- develop skills, give value and work harder than others. If they don't appreciate it - fuck them. I can go elsewhere if I have to, because others want what I've got. Things I owned this week - I had one of the busiest weeks of my life this week (new job) and career progression is an area of need for me, so that was great. Things I didn't own -- General tidiness of the house due to exhaustion from work.

30+ can be a lot of fun for guys if they look after themselves and have managed to progress in their chosen career. However even sex with randoms can get boring after a while. Not to say you should shack up with anyone. However much can be said for a man who, by 30, has found his mission in life and is diligently working towards it. There's gotta be something more, cause shit gets empty.

I don't know how (or why) so many guys go low carb -especially so dramatically! 20 grams per day!?! Getting ripped is about calories in vs calories out. Why make it so difficult that you increase the risk of failure so substantially? Here's a suggestion- just eat better, and reduce your intake of raw sugars and bad fats. 20grams of carbs per day (read: 1 banana), won't provide you with enough energy to do an effective workout, and it will limit your growth of lean mass.

What I will never cease to be amazed by is the amount of women who have the audacity to make such a request, and the amount of chodes that go along with it. Grief sucks ass man. Hookups can be bad. Drunken hookups can be horrendous. Much of what I know and hear with regard to random hookups is how empty they can be - especially after a while. Trp is self improvement and SMV focused. Do that. Build marketable skills, learn hobbies, focus on DOING stuff each day, rather than just endlessly analysing the past.

I want to post here a little late because I think better when I write, and I need somewhere to post my thoughts. This last couple of weeks has been one of the harder weeks for me - and it has been mostly my fault. I quit a job that I hate - and one that is particularly low SMV (but it pays the bills). I did this 2 weeks ago, with a plan to get back into a different career, one that is higher SMV and that is related to my degree. I apply for agencies but none of them want to hire me. This turn of…

I agree with others in that - people slip up - so cut yourself some slack. As a man who has gotten drunk and made a cunt of himself on many occasions, I highly recommend the 3 drink limit rule. That is, buy high end drinks and learn to savor each of them over an hour or so. It's classier, and shows that you're a mature man who has learnt how to drink.

Mindfulness based meditation has made me less "reactive". In that, when I'm put into difficult situations, I'm able to "observe" more and then choose how I respond. I'm hoping to crank my meditation practice up over the next few weeks. I highly recommend the practice for enhancing your overall life success.

You're right, this absolutely should be talked about more. Being in control of your money is hugely important, particularly as you get older, and the seeds should be sown early to maximise gains.

At work a little while back and a fellow (female) co-worker was telling me about how her and her builder husband have "just finished building a house together" - it was - apparently - "so much WORK!". This woman weighed approximately 120kg (240 pounds). What - was she up there on the roof in the sweltering heat slinging roof tiles? This chick picks out some paint colours and then has the audacity to tell me that "we built a house". Sweetheart - your husband is a builder - you didn't build shit.

The things that went well. I cooked a lot more this week and really enjoyed it. I took care of a few things round the house - got the car cleaned and booked in for a service, been working on a pool deck with the FIL the last couple of days. I've also been watering the garden and trying to organize OT with work. The bad. I've realized that my wife views me as drunk at the wheel. I'm early on in my marriage, so it's not too extreme yet, but she does double check my decisions quite regularly (and q…

It's not about being rattled by her response or not. Her response was incredibly rude, and you do the relationship and your self esteem massive damage by not calling her out for such shit behaviour. I'm not saying get angry - just a matter of fact statement of "that's so rude" -and then just get up and walk out, and then ghost her for a few days after.

I do believe that there is no end game in masculinity - we should value the process above all else. However I believe that masculinity IS what we (repeatedly) do. We ARE the sum of our useful skills and the sum of the value that we bring to the world - and that very much depends on what you do on a day to day basis. You can say that you are masculine and truly believe that you are, but if your actions betray you - then you are not.

First, the bad stuff Im on holidays at the moment. I get that these are holidays (and for me, they are quite a few days), but they have just been so unproductive - particularly the last week. As a married man, (and really as a man in general) I need to be adding value to my life (and in particular for me) by adding skills that i can bring to my career. I also need to be working on the house or providing in some other fashion. But I haven't really focused on that over the past week - and I am ver…

So much anger in the comments. Who gives a shit if she has fucked some other guy. So you didn't know that the girl is a skank - why do you care? You should be playing it cool regardless. If you want the cash, just take the flight and ditch her after. If it's too much for you to deal with, ditch her now. Either way you should already be working on expanding your options.

I have 3 fathers in my life. My genetic father was a weak willed long haul truck driver who used to repeatedly cheat on my mother and decided to quit his job the very next day after signing a house loan with my very pregnant mother. My step father was a very different man. He was a scary motherfucker with a heart of gold who worked at the university as a chemical engineer. Great list. With regard to your number 2, buying a Thruxton, might I suggest something. Why not build your own cafe racer? The Thruxton is a good bike, but building a cafe racer from an older bike will teach you a hell of a lot about being a man. It's not that hard, and any tools you don't have you can borrow or buy second hand. You'll learn skills that will be useful for the rest of your life. And you'll have the pride that comes with riding something that you designed and built. Here's a bad p…

I think your dot points are good overall rules, however obviously things are a little more loosey goosey than that as well. There are all sorts of contextual and situational variables that can come into play with regard to appropriate behaviour, such as past behaviour, culture, as well as a variety of mitigating circumstances. I think the Don't sacrifice for her thing is a great hard and fast rule. It ties in with a similar idea - best explained by Bas Rutten when he said - never fight for your …

The quote -regardless of who said it- is an important one to remember whenever you slip and think that making red pill statements (using red pill language) or anti feminist statements in unknown company - especially at work - is a good idea. Words can always be used against you. Don't talk. Do. Actions can be as anti feminist or red pill as hell, but you can frame them any way you please when questioned by authority. In relationships (outside work environments) it's a little more simple. You don…

You should watch bill burrs youtube videos on how to argue with a woman. Don't ever lose your cool. Control your emotions and don't allow her to bait you into a screaming match. MAINTAIN YOUR FRAME. One of the best ways to show and woman that 'things are gonna change around here' is to show discipline anself control in an argument. Also, start changing things up. Do new things. Youve got to be a touchy dude from the beginning. That is - you put your hand on her hand or her arm to make a point or to tell her something nice, you playfully give her a push (into an object) like you would to a little brother - so she has to work to avoid running into it, you kiss her on the cheek when you first meet her --- basically, you find as many non-threatening (although sexual) ways to touch her as possible, so when you go to hold her hand (preferably youre sitting when you do this a…

If she calls you an asshole, she's straight up selfish. I mean, she's basically stating: "how dare you have people (other than me) that also like you and want to have to have sex with you" The reality is that you have friends. Some of those want to be more than friends. Some of them want to be friends with benefits. Some of them want to be just friends. And thats OK. She has NO right to put her self-serving bullshit onto you. And youre a chump if you buy it.

even though no one has said anything on the matter That's the issue. Power and Size are far from inconsequential.. I didnt say that they were. However your point is important and should probably be added to my post as an addendum. It is VERY important for people to understand their own physical size and strength and how it compares to a potential adversary. And let me be clear, people should go to the gym and increase their size and strength. But lots of dudes buy into this: "Get X big and you will be a great fighter and no one will ever fuck with you." Fantastic article. A breath of fresh air. However I must admit that I thought this was going to be about fathers passing on their masculinity to their sons. Like they would say a treasured shotgun. 'Here son, this tool has served me well, treat it right, give it what it needs, and it will be invaluable to you in the hunt. Here, let me show you how to use it..' Maybe an article for another day.

I can see your point, but you are missing the larger picture. Moreover, your inability to understand the mindset of an older man going through what is probably the most horrific period of his life, speaks volumes about your youth. Lastly, dancing is incredibly red pill. Being able to dance well creates confidence and provides you with so many opportunities for fun and enjoyment either by yourself or with the opposite sex. A topic about dancing is a refreshing change from the monotonous chorus of…

Point 3 needs to be revised. Rich people DO have debt. They have GOOD debt. The kind of debt that earns you money in the long run - a mortgage on a blue chip investment property. A quality negatively geared share portfolio. A loan from the bank to buy your 3rd 7/11 franchise. The point is, they are happy to use other people's money, and to pay for the opportunity to do so, if doing so makes them a profit. What you are talking about here is primarily consumer debt, credit card debt and borrowing …

We ARE gaining on "them". But the "them" is not one subreddit, on one website. The battle is not about one subreddit vs another. This is about the ability of feminism to rally its idiots against websites such as reddit, threatening them until reddit "denounces the hate-speech" (anything the feminists themselves don't agree with), by destroying the TRP subreddit. TRP has become one of the major places (anywhere - not just online) in which free minded individuals can discuss life- strategies that …

Lets not fool ourselves. These idiots collectively have a great deal of power. Make no mistake these individuals are trying to get TRP shut down and the bigger we get, the more of a threat we will seem. Idiots like these have succeeded in oppressing those that they don't agree with in the past. Their numbers unfortunately exceed ours and group pressure is a powerful tool. However illogical and idiotic their arguments are, group idiocy needs to be respected for the danger that it poses.

i couldnt agree more. Habits are everything. Getting the really simple stuff right is a great place to start. Flossing everyday. Drinking 2 liters of water everyday or doing a stretching routine every morning. Then you can slowly start to ramp that up into doing a set number of hours on the stuff you really need to do each day. And thats the thing. Schools need to step back a little from what are now seens as traditional modes and aims of learning. Thus schools need new strategies to re-engage boys and get them interested in the learning process - for what has become - a whole new age of employment. I could go on about the 65/35 split in American undergrads female to male, but lets cut it short. Shorter lessons, less set desk time, and more active/ experimental/ inquiry based learning (which ideally has a high "hands on" component). We nee…

I also disagree. While John Wayne stoicism is sexy, the ability to express emotions honestly and without fear is a sign of a mature man. However I also want to question the 'be happy always' mantra that is espoused by a lot of guys. No one is happy always and you shouldn't try and make this an aim. Not only can it come off looking fake, its just not natural, and truth can be found in brooding or anger.

The article also shows how the current school system can be damaging to boys. When they're in an environment where students are praised for sitting still and following instructions (being girls) and punished for not doing so, we end up with an environment that punishes boys for being good boys. First comment so bare with me. As a primary school (grade school) teacher and as a man with a psych degree, this rings very true. The entire school system over the past 40 years in most western countries …
