I hadn’t thought about it. I usually block and delete if someone is hostile, disrespectful or toxic this seemed more amicable.

We had a phone call. I said it just felt like something was off on my end and I didn’t think we had a future. He took it well. He had been coming in strong in the course of only one month and I felt like I was regressing in feelings. I feel relieved.

I’m going through something similar and am about to break it off tonight! Seemingly high value but similar to you it definitely feels like he just wants a girlfriend and is rushing things despite me telling him I need to get to know someone and am still figuring out who he is. Meanwhile he’s full steam ahead after a month. All we do is communicate and talk about feelings and just aren’t having any fun. I think these are important situations where you note you still have work to do, perhaps take …

I had a similar experience. We never met in person but I had given him my number and the way he was texting and the fact he added me on Instagram turned me off. I told him I wasn’t interested anymore and he went ballistic. He found me on my company website took a screenshot and asked if this was me. I lied and said no and he got even more mad. I eventually told him to knock it off or I would contact the police. Which made him stop. It rattled me and I was on edge thinking he would come looking f…

Don’t do it. When I was in this situation and faced with the option to see someone I had history with, I framed it as I was going to lose all the progress I made, and have to start “getting over” him again. You have two months under your belt without seeing him, that’s progress! Don’t mess it up!

I liked the sentiment and could relate to it. I see friends and acquaintances living like there’s no pandemic so it was nice to see someone (on screen) in a similar situation as I am (alone in an apartment). A lot of alone time and sometimes feeling crazy and to be honest, worried about the long term impacts on the psyche of this pandemic. ETA: I actually am enjoying the alone time...maybe a little too much

No. It comes down to basic hygiene these guys look like they just don’t take care of themselves.

Seriously! It’s also cruel, higher chance of him passing away when the child is relatively young. I know everyone doesn’t get the time with their parents but the kid is going to be at 20? Best case scenario

Omg I needed this! I’ve met a guy online that has potential but we have different communication styles. I’m not into texting and he’s asking the best way to communicate with me. He’s incredibly self aware, transparent and understanding so far but dang he just wants to be in touch when we’re only acquaintances still.

I read her autobiography and I highly recommend it. What stuck out to me though was Jessica and Nicks age difference. She was 18 and he was 25 when they started dating.

Thank you! I should have made it clearer - I was more anticipating him asking if we were still on (which he did) and what a good response would be to that, versus just saying something or checking in (definitely not my job). I said I didn't realize we were still on since we didn't have a time and I couldn't do tonight (last night). Good to know they are in the handbook! I think I've been a member of this sub before the large influx and have read the handbook but missed it somehow. My qualms with…

Hi! I hope this is the appropriate place for this quick question. But I am/was supposed to have a video date with someone tonight (I know, I hate video dates but I feel like they're all the rage now and safe to either get started/weed out during the pandemic). He hasn't reached out with a time but reached out yesterday for some Hi how is your week etc. I am a pretty rigid person when it comes to time and planning and have already decided I will not be doing a video date tonight due to the lack o…

Girl, I’m in my 30s and by now you really need to decide who is worth having in your life and who isn’t. It sounds like this friendship isn’t working for you. I recommend r/ female level up strategy on how to level up and determine what isn’t working for you right now.

It does seem like you are comparing yourself to your friend and what good does that do? She may look at you and wish she had something you have, or wish that guys take her more seriously, or that they leave her alone when she breaks it off. I think a mindset change would help or a break from OLD. It’s been helpful to me to use friends who I deem to be in healthy relationships, as my marker to set a standard. Like what did those guys do to snag my awesome friends? What kind of traits and qualitie…

“You shouldn’t date me if you don’t like ~SaRcASm~” immediate no when a guy has something about sarcasm in his profile. To me it’s like let me make fun of you and you be cool with it

I think women should be able to rate men so men are held accountable. There are instances where a guy has been disappointing and is worth other women should know about (ghosted, sexually aggressive) but doesn’t fit under the categories/threshold hinge (the app I am in) merits reporting.

Hi!!! Great response! This is so funny especially since my friend and I keep getting Maine guys in OLD. I have a feeling they’re playing with their locations to match, it’s just been coming up so much lately

Agree, but some people really feel like they need to despite telling them it won't work and only hurts you in the end. I've tried to talk friends out of it but they "need to let them know" cringe

I used to offer to split the bill and always the guy would pay/say I got it and I let him pay after asking are you sure. However I used to think I’m ok with paying my way. I am definitely internalizing that he should pay always on dates but what does that look like? When the bill comes do you offer or sit patiently and let him get it? I’m thinking way too much about this looks like in practice. Help!

Hi! I just wanted to share a small step in my journey (oh my gosh I sound like the bachelorette) this sub is changing my life and me. It can be hard to see the bigger picture, when you are first reading everything and trying to apply it to your own life and one of my biggest fears is whether I would actually put this into practice when presented the opportunity because of past pickmeisha ways. I've recently gotten back OLD but haven't had the chance to apply anything from here just yet. I went o…

Wow! I think this was well put and makes total sense to me. It reminds me of an interesting read from The NY Times regarding men who never settled down “meet the New York bachelors who yearn for something more”. I haven’t reread it but basically about how they never settled down when they were young and now they’re lonely.

I just watched finding neverland and this is what MJ did in terms of phone calls. He actually sent faxes back and forth to one kid.

I agree! I commend you OP! I'm going through it, wasted a year on a fuckboy and I'm 30. Most of the time I can easily cut LVMs out but I stumble once in a while. This sub is helping so much though, I check it daily. Here's to 2020!
