Better for men only, bad for business. So it will never happen.

Far, far fewer young men commit suicide than young women have children. That's a ridiculous argument. There were around 14 suicides per 100,000 people in 2020 in the US (including men and women, but men are around 80% of that). By contrast most developed countries have a replacement rate of 2.1 - an average of 2.1 children per woman. Realistically you're taking a much higher risk hiring young women because *on average* every woman you hire will need to take leave twice. But you could hire 10,000…

Precisely. But giving men extra benefits is also a bad business decision, when you could simply choose not to hire women instead. If society were truly equal and men got all the benefits women get in exchange for equality in the hiring process, it would /still/ be unfair for young women because their time off is taken up by childbearing, whereas men would get it off 'for free'. Fact of the matter is that men and women are not treated the same because they are not the same, no matter how much you…

I tried to explain this in another sub a while back and got downvoted, then eventually the sub admin removed my replies. Hiring young women inherently presents more risk than hiring young men because of the chance they take maternity leave. However, it's illegal to discriminate at the hiring stage based on the sex of the applicant. This presents a problem where two otherwise identical candidates (one male and one female) must be chosen between at the hiring stage - you cannot legally discriminat…

This used to really get on my nerves back when I worked in a restaurant kitchen. Just when it was getting busy everyone would go on a smoke break (without clocking out) and essentially just dumped the work on the few of us who didn't smoke. They would basically work for up to an hour per day less than the rest of us and get the same pay.

Before the trial started, there were some articles claiming it would last 6 weeks, such as this one. I believe Heard is not even due to take the stand for a while. AFAIK the next step, now that Depp's cross-examination has concluded, will be hearing witness testimony from witnesses favourable to Depp's case. This will be followed by direct examination and cross-examination (some of which we saw already). Once that's done, I believe we will hear from Heard and from witnesses favourable to her, fo…

In Japan, unmarried women over 30 are often referred to as "past their expiry date", very harsh and rude but you can see why with people like this

The same way that a high proportion of "gender studies" and "women studies" students are radical feminists, SJWs or have gender dysphoria themselves.

Reminds me of my high school. There was a robust program in place to actively encourage more girls to take STEM subjects at A-level (the highest school level in the UK), but even though as a result the numbers of girls in the STEM classes was above the national average, they were still well outnumbered by boys taking those subjects. Most girls, given the choice and even encouragement, still chose not to take any STEM subjects. I believe a few did actually go on to pursue gender studies at univer…
