What?

And if I asked you to give me the coordinates (latitude and longitude) of the spot on the Earth I was standing when I walked ten meters north of the North Pole, what would your answer be? This doesn't seem reasonable at any stage and is a non sequitur. I'm still waiting for the part where my assertion about not being a victim of suicide falls apart, instead of pointing me to read a book, make an actual argument.
/r/MensRights13/07/19 09:02 PM

I like how you make personal attacks and claims about what you "could do" to my argument, but refuse to actually do it. I think you're right, there's nothing to discuss here because you have no ability to refute what has been stated. Just another pseudo-intellectual filled with hot air.

I completely understand their point. They're making an argument about a small number of things that might lead someone to commit suicide, calling those the only things that might lead someone to do so, and then making a non sequitur to justify a nonsensical syntax. All while completely ignoring what is being said to them. If you get drunk, get behind the wheel, hit someone head on and they die... would you say they are a "victim of a drunk driver" or a "car victim"? Because this infographic woul…

What fools paradise? I asked how one can be a victim of suicide and I got a bunch of crap about a very small few of the potential causes of suicide (that don't always lead to suicide). Your comment drifts us even further away. We aren't victims of suicide. We can be victims of the things that lead us to suicide, but not suicide itself. In that way the title should just read "Suicides" instead of "Suicide Victims".

Does MRM need a collective set of beliefs and principles? It seems to me trying to define beliefs and principles for a group beyond anything more than a simple belief in actual equality threatens to degrade and close off MRM in the same way it has modern feminism and partisan politics. I would strongly suggest that MRM sticks with openness and celebrating diversity in opinion, belief and principles. Further to that, a post that can factually be falsified at every stage shouldn't be held up to a …

Why can't we just make this stuff super simple and allow parents to parent their children how they reasonably see fit until such an age as a child can make a meaningful decision for themselves? And moreover, I really think giving puberty blockers and scheduling future gender reassignment surgery for a 6 year old should be, you know, not a thing the medical community goes along with under any terms.

You are literally the only person who is having difficulty grasping the point here. I think you might benefit from a cold shower and a lie down.

Yes, the different is relevant because we aren't talking about shaming anyone. We're talking about a use of language. And again, suicide does not indicate suffering, that you think it does demonstrates a problem at your end.
/r/MensRights13/07/19 05:17 PM

I like that you are resorting so quickly to name calling because you fail to understand a distinction of language that I'm calling into question. I love seeing the dunning kruger effect in live demonstration before me.

Does it matter why I've decided to chop my leg off? It's chopped off, I'm not a victim of chopping my leg off, although I may be a victim of what caused me to chop it off. Do you see the difference?
/r/MensRights13/07/19 04:47 PM

No. You have utterly misunderstood what is being said. Suicide does not immediately mean someone is feeling pain. It doesn't mean mental illness, or anything else. Suicide doesn't even have to be a conscious or purposeful act. All of which is irrelevant completely to what I have said. If you are feeling pain, you are a victim of pain. That pain may lead you to suicide but you remain a victim of the pain, not the suicide. I'm discussing syntax.

I strongly disagree with you on factual basis and find it highly troubling that a mod (/u/goodmod) is asking you to post it so they can turn it into a sticky. Let's discuss point by point. how can you tell whether society has conditioned men to be this way or society has adapted to the way men are, physiologically speaking? This one is easy. If it were society adapting to men (and I think perhaps you meant neurologically as opposed to physiologically) we wouldn't need concepts like cowardice, br…

I agree completely. None of that makes one a victim of suicide. Again, one could be a victim of depression leading to suicide, but a victim of suicide directly doesn't make sense. Suicide doesn't mean someone is mentally ill, nor that they aren't of sound mind. Say I get diagnosed with late stage pancreatic cancer too far progressed to be treated. What lays ahead is a painful, undignified death and so I make the choice to take my own life under my own terms such that those who love me are spared…

Cancer is a disease. Illness is a third-party thing you do not have control over that is happening to you. That can absolutely be construed as a victim. Suicide is a choice. Sometimes it's a choice made without a sound mind, but a choice nonetheless. It just doesn't fit being a victim because there is no third party outside of your control, you are by definition in control. It's like saying I decided to chop my own leg off and that made me a victim. You might say they were a victim of depression…

His parents started tracking his phone after he started falling into depression which led to their discovery of the abuse. Ie. being sexually abused by his teacher veritably made him depressed. /u/MooieMain is just a troll trying to stir shit through sexist remarks aimed at both genders. Ignore them.

A 13 year old boy who became depressed after the incidents began, is not an emotionally fit person. We know that not just because he became depressed but because human brains don't physiologically start to change into adult brains until 15-16 years old, a process that does not complete until 24-26 and is the basis for everything from laws on consent to legal voting age and legal age to consume alcohol. You are a troll using sexism to attempt to get people riled up. It is sad.
/r/MensRights13/07/19 03:08 PM

While everyone is getting outraged at the teacher, let us also remember there is a 13 year old child who has been permanently damaged because of this contact. My thoughts go out to him and his family.

I guess you didn't understand what was just said to you. Yes, it is always racist. When you do it knowing that doing so will be racist as a form of hyperbole to draw attention to racism and push back against it, some people can be ok with that. Again, not all people, some will still be mad.
/r/MensRights16/06/19 12:29 PM

Apparently you're very young. When Tropic Thunder was announced the role was considered racist. However, after release it was considered less so by manner (however remains considered racist by some) due to the way it was handled. That is to say, the point of the role was to draw attention to just how racist blackface is, especially in cinema. Do you understand the difference?

If you walk around in black face for any reason, that shit is racism. It doesn't matter if you meant it to be or not, it just is regardless of your intent. The same is true for all racism. I have no idea what you even thought you were getting at with your murder hyperbole, but it sure as heck had nothing to do with racism. The reason why you, a white guy wearing a prince costume to a party is racist, is identical to the reason you also shouldn't be wearing native American costumes or any other c…

No, really it is objectively racist and some people will absolutely call you out on it. I'm sorry that you don't understand racism but it doesn't have a whole lot to do with your intent. It's mostly about how you make others feel.

When working with boys and men, psychologists can address issues of privilege and power related to sexism in a developmentally appropriate way to help them obtain the knowledge, attitudes, and skills to be effective allies and potentially live less restrictive lives. Male privilege tends to be invisible to men, yet they can become aware of it through a variety of means, such as education (Kilmartin, Addis, Mahalik, & O’Neil, 2013) and personal experience (O’Neil, 2015; O’Neil, Egan, Owen, & Murr…

I think it's important to note that they're defining "traditional masculinity" as the suppression of emotions and appearing weak. I think what they're trying to say is that men have feelings too and as a society we should acknowledge that.

I agree if we're going to relabel protected traits as hate crimes they should all be relabeled without exclusion. I just think the whole idea is idiotic to begin with

We already have protected characteristics with penalties for violating them, why do we need to relabel them all as "hate crimes"? We should scrap the whole hate crimes thing all together.

Actually I've shown multiple medical groups support circumcision and none support forcing it. Circumcision should not be forced, it has to remain an individual choice same as vaccination. All major medical associations support circumcision, there is strong evidence of its benefits.

For the second time, you do not understand the text you are quoting. You then make non-sequiturs. You are clearly a troll who is unwilling to look at fact. Go be angry somewhere else.

All you've done here is act like a troll. You have a bunch of passionate opinion, lies and misinterpretation of facts. You mislead and misinform for no reason beyond you're a bored 12 year old. Please kindly fuck off.

It actually did nothing of the sort. Here's a better idea, you fuck off and take your opinions that contravene the evidence with you.

I consider this an acceptable state of affairs. What you consider something to be is an opinion, that's the literal definition of that usage. You support the routine knifing of baby dicks. Absolutely an opinion, I have not at any stage stated what I personally support. See how that works?

I've provided links to multiple of the top 20 medical associations in the world, all of which support circumcision. I've also backed up every claim I have made with a supporting citation from a credible source. You're just writing hate and opinion about something you don't like and pretending it's fact. To try and make your opinion sound better you throw in some nonsense claims about science and medicine you don't and can't back up. If you don't like something, that's fine, no one is forcing you…

I absolutely read it, in fact I've read it many times including when it was first published in 2012. Considering you stopped at the first paragraph however, it's quite amusing to read you talk to me about reading it. You don't appear to understand what is being said in the quoted sentence, do you need it explained to you?

Sure there are, lots of them actually. Including the prevention of heterosexual HIV transmission. And you know that, because you've also replied to my comment linking directly to those discussions by medical boards. And no, half of the citations in the blog post do not have circumcision in their title.

What do you think a username on a public forum has to do with anything? You're responding to a comment that literally outlines multiple medical associations discussing the scientifically demonstrated medical benefits of circumcision and the best you have to say to me is some shit about usernames? Seriously, if you don't like something that's totally cool no one is forcing you to do it. PS. Please stop using the word research, you don't know what that word means.
/r/MensRights09/05/19 10:35 AM

What are you talking about, did you actually read the links? This isn't a rarity, there is good evidence to suggest that all males should be circumcised due to the overwhelming medical benefits. Such a thing however should always remain a personal decision.
/r/MensRights09/05/19 12:32 AM

incredibly pointless. The American Academy of Paediatrics would strongly disagree with you, as would medical professionals in general. Families should always have the final say in whether to circumcise or not, but to claim it is pointless is completely false.

I'm face palming the use of the buzzfeed equivalent in the psychology world. Go ahead and take a look at the references at the bottom of the linked blog post, the vast majority of which have nothing to do with circumcision or even infants. The linked article is an opinion piece drawing all kinds of illogical conclusions. I have simply asked for a credible source, if there is any kind of credence to the opinion in the article that should be incredibly easy to provide.

I asked if it harms anyone else, that's not speaking with authority. In fact the only claim I've made in this comment is that my penis was not harmed, and I think I'm an authority on my own penis. However, if you follow the thread down there are now a bunch of citations I have posted to actual studies presented on this issue as well as rates of complication resulting in permanent damage or death (which are extremely rare, you have more chance of getting eaten by a shark your first trip to the be…

I do love it when someone says some shit like "do your own research", it's always a dead give away that they have no idea what they're talking about and exponentially increases the likelihood they've fallen down some woo woo rabbit hole. You have tried to present an argument using a non-credible source as the basis for that argument. I have simply said to you that if there is any credence to that position you should easily be able to provide a credible source that agrees with you. It's also inte…

In the USA there are 151.8M males, of which an estimated 71% (107,778,000) are circumcised. It is difficult to find any kind of credible figures on the numbers of deaths from circumcision each year, however even if we go with a liberal estimate from an anti-circumcision site at 229 deaths each year in the USA, the death rate from circumcision is 0.00021247378871384% In contrast to that, 16:100,000 (11,840 total) male infants die from motor vehicle accidents in the USA each year. wtf are you babbling about? You want to present your subjective experiences as if they are objective facts for everyone. They're not.
