I have no idea what her real motivations are. She isn't going to rush to hang out in the future if I was confrontational, or she feels like it's a monumental task to ask someone she previously passed up. She also won't have a chance if I'm not free, which very well might be the case. My OP ? was more about how to handle myself, not how to win her back.

She seems to have lost interest from the time you got her number and is now making an excuse. Possibly. Set and forget. It's my job to be cognizant of the possibilities, not to try and overanalyze and read people's minds. I sometimes somewhat control others, but I almost always absolutely control me.

Right. I've gone for broke on some people, I've done the "I already have a ton of friends" bit, etc. I didn't think this situation called for it. I'm past all of that. I'm not invalidating it, I'm just done with that way of handling things.

I get what you're saying, but you know too well that many women will fade not because they don't like you, but because they messed up the first time they couldn't come out and think there is no redemption, because having the ball in their court is scary. This also applies to this situation IMO. I'm giving her permission to try to date me instead of giving up due to nerves.

I like this one the most. Had I not told her to buy me a drink as my response to rescheduling before our first date, it would have been golden. It still might have been, since returning to funny things like comedians do (even though she "should" buy the drink,) can work well.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
