Oh man, a small town. Our situations are total opposites of each other haha. I would love to go to a local gym with the same friendly people that live in the same town as I do instead of driving for 20 minutes only to go 1.6 miles. Everyone is different. My main reason for being lazy and not going to the gym was BECAUSE I had to 'go' there (driving and parking were bad, I live in Los Angeles) I started working out much more consistently after buying some weights for the house and cancelling my membership. Running/jumping jacks/jump ropes for cardio are super easy and cheap too. To each their own! Edit: It's hard for me to justify not working out when all I have to do is walk 15 steps to my garage!
