If I ever have kids, I'm going to adopt and I plan on treating my kids better than most people treat their biological children. Not by spoiling them but by being honest and preparing them for life in a way that's realistic. People have kids for the most selfish reasons. If you aren't willing to adopt then you should ask yourself, "Do I really need kids in my life?" Maybe you just need a pet. As the human equivalent of an ugly poodle, I find it appalling that some people have kids basically for the same reason people get pets. The thing about getting a puppy is that if it shits on the carpet and you beat it and have it impounded, it's not the same as traumatizing a human and ruining their future by not taking care of them. I might be speciesist for saying this so I guess I'll add that it's just my opinion.
